Hi Olivia has been suffering for weeks /months and still in hospital...oesophgeal spasms in agony..Olivia could not drink the water (advised to drink by members on here, thank you guys) so it was syringed down her nasal gastric tube...IT STOPPED THEM...numerous times over the last few days..but now it only stops them sometimes, and Olivia has had a day of agony, and ineffective strong medications... why does the water only work sometimes, and what else can be done please?...she had a temperature today....thanks Louise / Olivia's mother.
Hi..meant to write 'Oesophageal Spasms agony'.
I wonder if she might have developed something like thrush? It might be worth them checking this. How is her saliva? Is her mouth moist as it should be?
Nerve systems can be unpredictable and inconsistent, and sometimes the pain will ratchet things up. It sounds like a need for creative thinking by an ENT / Upper GI nerve specialist but also perhaps some alternative things like massage/ relaxation / acupuncture or something like that on the basis that they won't do any harm, but might just break the vicious cycle of escalating spasm?
Hope by now your feeling better. I have no experience with what your going through. Hang in there and take care😘
