hi all,
just received appointment for balance test and i a frightened. can anyone tell me what happens during this as the letter says that i am not to wear eye make up!!!!

Hi Janet, each hospital tends to do the tests differently but I'm guessing why they say no eye make up is because they may want to put drops in your eyes, maybe. When I had my tests, they put water in my ears, not brilliant but it's not bad. They may do a table tilt test, all that is, is they strap you to this special table which they can tilt it at different angles, then test your reactions. Don't worry though whatever they do is nothing to be scared of. Good luck xx

i had a balance test last year. They stuck electrodes to my head. I had to lie on a bed in a dark room and follow a red light on a screen during various patterns, followed by first warm, then cold water flushed into my ears while I recited certain things. It made me feel dizzy during the water part but it stopped straight after. I was dreading the test but it really wasn't anywhere near as bad as I expected. Good luck and let us know how you get on
