Off for more tests

Hi all

not been around much as i have not been to good.

had hospital appointment last week with my ENT doctor and he put me through some test and my God did they make me fell ill. the worst one is where he had me lie down with my head hanging over the end of the bed and he strated to turn my head first right to see how i felt then to the left. i have never felt so sick in all my life, i was shaking and real hot also very dizzy. best thing was after he did all his tests the nurse said "did you drive here" i could have laughed. i dont drive but just as well the way i was feeling.

any way he did not want to give me any answers there and the but wants to send me for more tests. he wants some kind of scan and he wants me to see someone regarding my dizziness. has or does anyone know what these test are and is there a lot involved as i dont want to fell like i did last week.

many thanks

janet

Hi Janet

I was diagnosed with menieres 2 years ago. The only tests I have had is a hearing test, an MRI scan and a balance test.

Since then it's just 6 monthly visits to the hospital where they ask me the same questions every time, and repeat the hearing test!!

I've never had the test you describe here. It sounds awful

Best regards

Tanya

Hi Tanya,

could you tell me about the balance test, my ability to walk in a straight line is at time rotten. My grand daughters think is is funny when i amout with them. just wish i had a answer and a diagnosis.

kind regards

Hi Janet

For my balance test I had electrodes stuck to my head and face that read your eye and brain pattern. Then I had to sit in a dark room and follow a red light on a screen without moving my head. Then hot and cold water was flushed into my ears to bring on a dizzy spell while I had to recite sentences back to the doctor!

All very strange. The outcome was that I do have damage to my balance centre.

From what I have read, this cannot be repaired, and like yourself, even on a good day when I feel well, I sometimes find it impossible to walk in a straight line.

Hope this is of some help. Menieres is an awful illness - and one that many people don't understand because you seem so well before the attacks.

I do sympathise with you and the way you feel. I hate having this!!!

Best regards

Tanya

hi Tanya

many thanks for your reply. can say with hand on heart i am not looking forward to that. i cannot stand water in my ears as it causes me so much pain. i will have to discuss this with the doctor. so much pain and they want to inflict more in us and to induce a dizzy spell God what a bummer.suppose i will have to grin and bare it.

Fingers crossed they may be able to give me some answers. One thing bugging me is that when i was is seeing my ENT doctor and he wanted me to follow his finger as he moved it the nurse in the room made a sound as though she had seen something wrong when i was doing this test but the doctor said nothing. i know i should not pay any attention to her but it has niggled me as i felt as though i was having problems.

will keep you posted and hope that you do not have any bouts of this horrid illness and that youkeep well.

kind regards

janet.

Hi Janet

I'd already been diagnosed with Meniere's when they gave me the balance test, so it was pretty pointless having it really. Like you say, why keep putting us through more things when we feel bad enough to begin with?

I hope you get some answers soon and your problems can be sorted.

Fingers crossed any tests you have will be easy ones!!

Yes keep me posted - and good luck

Best wishes

Tanya
