Hi- I had been on SSRI meds for the past 14 years until this past March when my Dr switched me to Prozac and my body didn’t respond well, then to Zoloft then to lexapro, all which creates worsening anxiety, nausea, no appetite. So my Dr said I should stop all SSRIs for at least 6mo to cleanse my body. I’ve been off Lexapro for almost 4 weeks and I do feel better in some ways but I still have lingering nervousness inside. Like a internal vibrating/shakiness, and I am easily triggered into the fear response with minor situations.
Does anyone know if this is lingering anxiety from being so incredibly anxious for 2 months straight? Or is this partly coming off SSRIs? Or uncontrolled anxiety remaining?
I am lost as to what to do.
Thanks
Interestingly I have just watched a news item where people were big interviewed about the adverse effects of anti depressants and lack of help for mental health issues particularly anxiety and depression!.
Were you weaned off these drugs or were they abruptly discontinued may I enquire?
I was weaned rather fast per my Dr instructions because the lexapro was making me feel worse. So I was on 10mg for 4 weeks then 5mg for 10 days, then off. I’ve been off for 4 weeks and 2 days now. I feel better off than I did being on but I still am having hard time. Morning nervousness and no appetite. And foggy head feeling.
If u google the Ashton Manual you will see she advocates a slow taper.
Ik it was a rather quick taper but that’s what my Dr felt was best since I was worse on the medication. And going bk on the med isn’t an option.
I guess I’m just looking for reassurance that what I’m feeling is in fact discontinuation symptoms and will fade in time. But idk if anyone knows.
