Hi,
We're off to Spain at the crack of dawn (actually before it cracks, 3am start due to feeling fit and well back in November when we booked the ferry!). Have been feeling pants for two weeks but now feeling a lot better since going back up to 5mgs. Seems to suit me. I managed to get 2.5mg and 5mg enteric coated Pred from the Doctor this time as I think the Omeprazole was making me feel ill - I read the side effects and seemed to be able to tick most of them. Since stopping a week ago I feel much, much better. Coincidence? Don't know, don't care, just feel better!! Yoghurt doesn't quite work for me and if I take the non enteric it feels as thought I have a rodent chewing at my insides. On that delightful note I shall say Adios 8)
Take care everyone
Love from Lizzie xxx
PS: would anyone recommend starting to reduce again while I'm in the sunshine or give a miss until I get back?
Oooh, bit low on emoticons eh? :surfer: :redwine: :bubbly: :shark:

Go with the flow and see how you feel. Just have a great time.
Lizzie
Omeprazole etc did horrible things to me and I have been lucky to cope well without it but, of course, with the help of my live yoghurt and Manuka honey, I'm sure - what a shame you can't take the yoghurt.
If my memory serves me right, you did a successful reduction once before whilst on holiday and perhaps you can do so again now that all the stresses are behind you. Having said that, when I had one of my flares below 5mgs, I was increased back up to 10 by the rheumatologist, quite quickly coming back down to 5 but he advised me to stay on 5 for some months. But we're all different (for instance I was never totally pain-free during my reductions whereas I think you were?) so just see how you feel whilst you're away and trust your gut instinct.
Have a wonderful relaxing and fun holiday and come back well! 8) Haven't had a holiday for years but did go to a Tapas Bar for the first time ever on Saturday and the ambience did stir up memories of wonderful Spanish holidays years ago! Won't have Tapas again though - I gained 2lbs!

Hi Lizzie
Hope you have a great time in Spain I managed to cope with 4 on my mini-blip I think haveing a sore throat bug after my hols tipped it over the edge I was on 2 tried 3 then gave in and found 4 worked I think Ive been there for a month so am throwing in 3.5s now but it will be slow I did wonder whether to start it as we fly off to Majorca Sat but we are flying from Bournemouth and only a short flight so I shall take lots of steroids with me so can change it if necessary How do we know when it is time to try a reduction its all guess work !!
If you feel well give it a go but it does make life difficult if you cant take the non enteric coated steroids Might be worth an investigation into other stomach protectors when you get back
Have a great time
Best wishes
Mrs G
Ola Lizzie-Ellen,
Have a great time in Spain... I was at the hairdressers today, got about six inches chopped off to make hair more maneagable, and the girl who did my hair said her Mum was in the Murcia area at the moment and it was about 30 degrees plus everyday 8).
If that doesn't boost the vit D then nothing will
Lots of love & Happy holiday.
Pauline.
Pauline, enjoy your trip to Mazzaron (26th I think you said) I'll save you some sunshine 8) . Told my Grandson I was going to let my hair grow and have a pony tail as I'd never, ever had one in my 65 years. The look on his face was wonderful - it spelt out 'if you grow a pony tail Nannie, then you won't see me for dust' or similar. Always had very short hair. Already regretting letting it grow and can see me at Natalio's (local hairdresser in Spain) within the week :diva:
Mrs G. Have a lovely holiday, love Bournemouth Airport, so unairportish :ufo: No hustle and bustle.
Mrs O. I know, Spanish food is supposed to be so healthy - but you just have to look at any Señora over the age of 45 to realize that healthy doesn't equal slim! And I'm pretty sure that it was the Omeprazole that was making me feel so ill.
Mrs K. Thanks for the good wishes. Hope you're keeping well.
Off to bed now (just gone 7pm) :sleepy: Early start in the morning!
Love to all,
Lizzie Ellen xxx
Trouble is Pauline - when it is 30 plus degrees you don't go out in the sun unless you have to and unless the sun's rays strike the skin at steep enough an angle the vit D factory in the skin doesn't get going  . Which is also why it is midday sun you need not early morning and evening sun (unless you are pretty close to the equator  ).
