Hope you have a great recovery Kris....One day at a time now and you will see improvement all the time! Get well soon.....Barb
Hi Kris,
be sure you have everything up so you don't have to bend for a couple of months, also I wore clothe that over my head and adult diapers. It's tricky after getting home just getting up and out of bed. Some people prefer a bedside throne some a seat extension . Reaches are great and slip on shoes are so easy. I had 3 THR each one is different and heeling is different for us all too.
i was so looking forward to having my joint replaced it was so painful and once we hippies get past the recovery stage life begins to get back to normal
Many good blessings sent your way thru surgery & recovery!
Keep in touch and let us know how you're doing!
I hope you have good support at home and remove any tripping rugs, cords for a safe recovery.
Lots of excellent advice!
And thanks for your note to me in another discussion.

Hey Linda,
Thanks ! We hippies gotta stick together! We'll be dancing soon... 👯
Well done. First couple of weeks are a bit weird but when you get your head round it, just enjoy being incapacitated, let others help you, sleep whenever you can and let the healing process begin. Speak to you soon x
Yayyyyy, well done Kris, & now the fun begins! Big hugs to you x
good morning kris,
How are you feeling? did you eat something - ahhh, we all have been right there where you are right now -
first post-op day was busy ... blood taken, going to x-ray, getting washed and dressed, then physical therapy, sitting in chair -
take it slow today, no matter how they try to push you, okay ...
big warm hug

Well done Kris. I kept wondering how you were doing yesterday. I go in today for THR at 3.00. This site has been a tremerndous support and source of information, thanks also to Rocketman for his very informative info. Good luck to all who are either having their THR shortly or have already had them.
Good luck today tomorrow you will feel a new person
Hippy hood here you come

hi whizzymaz,
sending light and healing to you -
You probably are in the hospital right now, waiting to be taken to the Operating room -
Good luck - Just surrender and have faith and know that you are in good hands.
Looking forward to your first post-op post
big warm hug

Congrats to Kris (although likely a bit groggy right now). You may be wondering what you have done over the next few days, but I swear it will get better and with patience and good exercise you will be very happy.
Whizzymaz - best of luck; hoping your surgeon's hands are steady and patient and your nurses are kind and gentle as they guide you back from lala land.
We will be waiting for word of your successful trait ion to hippie.
Hugs to you both,
Linda
Thank you all, Wizzymax. I found the whole operation completely painless and did not wake up until dressings applied. Finding the hospital disorganised with medication. Random things at random times. I don't always get what is written up so keep a close eye on them. Your anaesthetist will tell you what he has recommended I have had long delays of getting meds. Waiting for pain relief for an hour and a half! We have told the hospital.
On the plus side I have been walking around my room with a Zimmer frame although getting in to bed is a bit of a challenge I have needed help with my operated leg. This is only day 1 mind you. Another good nights sleep will set me on my way.
Big thank you to the NHS!
good morning ,
hopefully you had a good night's sleep and are ready to take on this day.
Getting in to bed is challenging, so keep practicing -
sounds like you are doing great !!!!
big warm hug

Well done. You, walking round already, it's liberating isn't it?
there is an art to getting into bed - I got a mattress topper for home which raised the height of the bed a bit, that made it a bit easier.
Happy recovery. X
Hi Kris,
sorry to hear they are late with pain meds that's a real bummer that soon after surgery. They had me on a pain IV machine when I entered my room after surgery. The electrical plug wasn't working it was pugged in and it took 20 minutes for them to sort it out.
you sound like you are doing very well and soon will be home doing those butt squeezes gaining strength and be sure to eat 3200 calories a dau. My doc said our bodies need extra calories to heel. No chips now! Drink lots of protien shakes really helps you feel better th do all those exercises just to get you back on the dance floor!
Peace & Heeling
