Ok, I am about to start on Simvastatin. Even though I exercise regularly and eat sensibly I have in recent years experienced both high Blood Pressure and now slightly raised cholesterol levels. The Lisinopril ACE inhibitors for the blood pressure have just worked out fine. I am however far more apprehensive about Simvastatin. Age 57, male, UK. No heart attacks or serious illnesses ever experienced. So here goes, I'll come back to you on this one after a week or so.

It's not been very long since I made the posting about just going onto Simvastatin (around 12 days). I take 40mg. Simvastatin each night alongside 5mg. Lisinopril. Absolute success. For quite a few years now I've woken up in the morning with a nausea feeling and have occasionally been prescribed Lanzoprazole. This feeling has now gone, so the Simvastatin's process of reducing natural liver fats has solved this problem obviously as a 'side-effect'. I've also been recording some sensational BP readings (by my standards) first thing in the morning, actually being 117/72 on one occasion. How this has come about I do not know. Slightly dry throat and mouth at night has been a symptom. My wife has commented on how much better I am sleeping, and how much less movement I'm making during the night. Different drugs affect people in different ways. I can endorse Simvastatin after 12 days as having improved my wellbeing.:ok:

Very interested in you experiences.

I started on statins (40mg ) last night and am also on 2.5mg of Ramipril.

I've heard only bad things about statins and was reluctant to start taking them especially as I have kidney problems. I'm still not sure and feeling rather nervous having read many of experiences on this web site. Yours was positive though. Hope all goes well.

If I am going to experience negitive effects - how long will it take?

Just been given Slimvastatin 20mg tablets by my doctor. I have diabities and although my last cholestal level was 5.1 the doctor thought it would be better me going on them, he has restarted my blood pressure tablets, again my blood pressure is normal but he thinks again it is a good idea for me to go back on them. Scared still of taking them after reading quite a lot of the reports. Hope I will still be with you all to report back in a couple of weeks. Am I doing the correct things taking Slimvastating.
