Hi again Echo, I think your family sound lovely - and almost as mad as mine. I am Jan (much more boring than Elaine), surname C and this is as much as I am prepared to say on an open site. My husband is lovely, offering me love and support over the last 39 years (OMG!!) and we both love music - of all kinds. Having brought up 3 children ranging in age from 36 to 19 (and the grandchildren) we heard music from many generations. I remember a colleague seeing a tape in my car and assuming it was my oldest son's because it was Metallica - It was mine and I still listen to them regularly, alongside 60s stuff, some classical, heavy rock and favourites from down the years.
I live in West Yorkshire, maybe a little deprived in places but wild and wonderful in others and the people are generally lovely, \"the salt of the earth\". I still work full time but am unsure how long I will keep this up as it is becoming a struggle, both to attend on a full-time basis and to motivate myself at times. I think this is related to the dreadful weather so may try and hang on in there until it gets warmer and see if that makes a difference. I have an interview next Tuesday to move over into another department, where I will be training others, doing presentations etc. rather than being involved so deeply in fieldwork and this may be better for me also.
I was diagnosed with COPD (severe emphysema) about a year ago and unfortunately was already quite far gone, having to move onto long-term oxygen therapy almost immediately. This after a lifetime (or should this be \"deathtime\"?) as a smoker from age 11 to age 57 - so nobody to blame but myself. I have also found out recently that I have osteoporosis at the worst level. Bottom line - the treatment for osteoporosis takes about 5 years to show bone density improvement, I cannot have a transplant unless it improves significantly and the cut off age for transplants is 60. So........its sit and cry (been there, done that) or look on the bright side, make sure I prolong my life as long as possible and get what I can out of it, which is why and try and stay positive.
One of the things which keeps me cheerful is my lovely family, my hubby, two sons and daughter and my absolutely beautiful, unique, intelligent, talented (etc, etc, etc, you get the picture?) grandchildren. I love kids - especially once they can reason for themselves and are not old enough to have become wise and worldly - they are so straight, so honest. The other thing which keeps me happy is alcohol (only joking - I get tipsy after one glass of wine!).
All babies are special but maybe IVF babies are just a little more appreciated than those obtained by more conventional methods. To have such a lovely name makes your daughter extra special (all ballerinas have to have unusual and beautiful names, it's the law) and one day your husband's family will realise that. Sorry, I have gone on a bit haven't I?
Hope to hear from you soon.
