hi I have been suffering with labyrinthitis since the middle of feb, I've suffered anxiety depression and all that goes with this horrible condition, I have had The scan and startred vestibular rehab therapy, I was just wondering if anyone has really good weeks then can go right back to square one, I'm so sick on and off, does anyone else have The same problems ?
Dear Shelley
I've just returned to work after 4 weeks off with this condition but suffered for 2 months. It wasn't diagnosed until I swapped symptoms with others and realised that is what I had. There is light at the end of the tunnel for you I hope. One person said that it took 6 months to get back to "normal". Most people say they feel over it by 3 weeks!!!! Lucky them.... Mine was worse because they diagnosed Acoustic Neuroma because I was going deaf. The inner ear virus just didn't help at all!
If you're feeling as I did which was sick and dizzy all the time with no energy AT ALL then I commiserate deeply. Just getting upstairs was exhausting - I certainly couldn't walk to the bottom of the garden. Showering was a nightmare and as you say the feeling that it will never end caused deep depression. I'm writing to say hang on there and that you are not alone. Even the most upbeat people have said they were depressed. Have they told you it will get better? My condition will only get worse but at least the virus has gone and I can do things again. Best wishes Cathy
Hi Cathy thankyou so much for replying they say the usual the 3 to 6 mnths that Initself seems daunting, it's the sickness thats The worse, the cruel thing is it went away for 2 wks then it's come back worse,I was such an upbeat person now I'm miserable emotional wreck I just pray that one day I wake up and it's gone, just
Think it's never going to happen, glad your feeling better and back at work x
Hi Shelley
All I remember was that I couldn't describe how ill I felt. The sickness was the absolute end but I found that what made it worse for me was doing anything physical. Having to keep still for most of the day wasn't a riot and I've found that even now, I move and do things very slowly, as if afraid those sensations will come back. I still don't dare do things again like Pilates and Rambling. Not yet anyway. Weird isn't it? The room didn't spin too much when I had it though - I was grateful for that. Do take care xx
Hi lily thanks for posting the sickness is the worst because you feel to Ill and lethargic to get thru the the day, it's like you have constant sea sickness, did yours come and go or was with you all the time. Have you recovered now ? And how long did you have it for lily xx
The sickness came on slowly and I didn't know what was happening. The doctor gave me pills for it which actually made it worse! I was sleeping all the time which was probably due to the virus because that was the first thing that stopped. I took it to mean that the virus had expended itself as energy came back too. Just over 2 months I think - mid Feb until late April. Sea sickness is a really good way of describing it. The only thing I can say is that complete rest is the only way forward..........Try not to do anything. I know it's hard but I found that the sick feelings abated when I did absolutely nothing. Can your doctor help with medication?
Hi lily I'm allowed to take sick tablets but not stematil or any of the dizzy tablets, because I've been told it's
Slows the compensation of the brain working, I've also started an excersise program called vrt that makes you do things to make you dizzy, so confused because they want me to do as much as possible to regain control of my balance, other people like you say resting Is the best way, I find that hard I'm quite an active person and this Is flooring me, so happy that your feeling better and have come through it, noone seems to have
Heard of it, thanks lily it's lovely to hear from you x
Shelley
Sorry been away - with no symptoms! - allelulia! Just must say I talked to the first person who had this labrynthitis and he had it on and off for months. It quite floored him that he felt better for weeks and then it came back. This happened a few times and it is really awful. He still worries it will return but it is 18 months since the first presentation. Please take care - it will go but you need to rest..........xx
Hi lily thanks for the reply great news that you are symptom free and enjoyed your holiday, I've prostponed a few of mine we have just bought a touring caravan feel to Ill to go yet, still the same but I get a few hours a day that are better than they was so hopefully the hours will turn into days, ent are sending me for vidtibular testing loads of tests to see if I've got damaged nerves, did you have that done? Also what medication did you take for the sickness it's still really bad ent are puzzled about that they said it should only be there at the
Beginning thanks
Take care
Shelly
Hi there just thought I would add to this discussion I myself am suffering from this horrible condition I have had it for 9 weeks up to now with no sings of getting better. I have constant dizziness / off balance feeling like I'm moving in side but I'm very much still I have ear pains and nauseous I have been out on that many different medications which all made me worse so decided not to take anymore. I have managed to get refered to ENT after frightening with my doctor as they said I hadn't had be condition long enough to be refered which I thought was disgusting of them they are not the ones suffering. Anyways I had a session of craniosacral therapy yesterday which did relax me and made me feel slightly better however today I have relapsed and feel shocking again. Have you tried any home remedies? Ginger is suppose to be good for sickness. Hope you feel better soon x
Hi there mandi I went to the health shop yesterday for Ginger tablets but they said I had to check with my
Doctors as I'm on heart meds but they gave me some Ginger sweets, I'm glad I've been in contact with you
Two because I go on this site dizzy times and no one seems to suffer with nausea unless they gave migrain related vertigo, im on motlium for the sickness today just making me shaky, god this is an awful illness What therapy is that and what does it involve xx
You should be ok with ginger tea I have a stock of this and my sister got some ginger biscuits so I've been having them. I have only recently started suffering from sickness feeling I feel as though I've gotten worse then a few weeks ago I use to be able to sleep however now when I lay down I feel like I'm swaying on a boat or that I'm been pulled from my head and toes very horrible. It all to do with energy in the body and balancing the currents it's hard to explain but if you look it up on the net if this doesn't work I will be trying accupuncture next I will try anything at the minute. I was looking on over sites and both seem to have eased the symptoms of some people I just think you have to be open minded. I am also suffering with anxiety because of this condition so need to try and relax and not stress out which is harder said then done. If I find anything that helps with his at all I will update you. Would be nice to keep in touh its nice to actually speak to someone who knows what I'm going through.
Yeh let me no how the accupunture goes and I will try the Ginger tea tomorrow I've been throughout the anxiety stage bloody awful it makes it worse coz u can't work socialise shop or do anything you feel so bloody Ill
Keep in touch x
Yeah it's a kick in the back side. I tried going out with some friends last week and I felt so out of it. And very sick the only time I felt ok was when I was moving in the car. I find sleeping very bad because I feel like I'm moving all the time, work is extremely hard but I have to do this to keep my house car etc my apetite is non existant although I do try and eat because if I don't I will feel worse in the long turn. I am very dubious about getting something for the anxiety as my poor body has been though so many meds already don't know what to do for the best. X
God Knows how your managing to work mandi it takes me all my time to get out of bed, x
It's very hard and I cry every day while I'm there but at the end of each day I praise my self for going. I'm off in 5 weeks I go abroad which I'm scared about as I don't know know I'll be maybe if will do me good. Have you tried doing yoga or meditation to help relax you? Try doing some little things at first the more active you become the better you will feel in the long term it is hard I constantly feel awful but I won't let it ruin my life xxxx
I was going on the crosstrainer doing 10 k at the beginning coz I was suffering with the sickness and doing more then vrt started all the sickness off I'm heaving all the time are you, I can't believe your 10 weeks in and you havnt seen ent or had a scan and not been to vrt hopfully you will be recovered by the time you get
There lol xx I cry most days too wondering if this will ever end xx
I was doing the 10 k when I wasn't suffering with the sickness that's ment to say lol x
Aw bless ya no I've not been heaving just feeling really sick but never actually been sick. I have only just manged to get my doctor to agree to refer me to ENT they was so reluctant because they said I'm not a severe case and not been suffering long they said I had to have had it for months and months I kicked off and went back every week until they agreed they don't understand what it's like so can't say I shouldn't. The worst thing is people look at us and think we are fine but we feel awful inside people just assume its the light headed dizziness and it's not a constant feeling. We will all get through it and be happy people again :-)
I know what you mean the Docs take it like it's nothing it's really taking over my life not got a social bone in
My body, and yeh even family and close friends don't understand either coz we look so normal how did your shopping go today I went to b and q and heaved all the way round, no sick pills work
