After a UTI the urologist diagnosed me with Bacterial Prostatitis. Typical symptoms (all lousy) I've read about: Difficult peeing, constant feeling of having to go, pain in perineum and penis pain (not severe but ongoing primarily near the tip). I'm halfway through the second month of Doxy and Flomax. The urinary symptoms have subsided but still getting some pressure in perineum and occasion discomfort in penis. Erections still not very comfortable and some discomfort after ejaculation. Again, not severe, but noticeable I feel like I'm on the right path but two good days can be followed but a bad one. Anyone have very similar symptoms, meds and results? Any good news??
You might want to do some online research for homeopathic remedies for UTI.
D-Mannose is supposed to be helpful, Another homeopathic remedy is called bee propolis. Vitamin C is also frequently recommended, as is cranberry juice. As far as I know, none of these will interfere with the antibiotic. But you may want to ask a pharmacist just in case.
For relief of the symptoms, there is something that you can buy over the counter called ‘Azo’.
It took a month to rid me of prostatitis (two weeks of Sulphameth then 10 days of Ciprofloxin) That was my diagnosis too, and my GP seemed to think that by ridding myself of the infection it would shrink my prostate to the point that I would be able to pee easier. After getting rid of the infection I was still having incontinence issues because neither I nor my doctor seemed to realize that I was retaining @ 400ml of urine before being able to pee out @80 ml or so. I beleive now that I was retaining a lot for many months, even years and this was one of the major causes of my prostatitis. I only got it once thank goodness.
Your up and down cycle seems a little unusual to me. In a normal course of taking antibiotics I always expected a pretty linear effect; i.e. gradually getting better. Sounds good you think you’re on the right path.
I have solved my problem temporarily by doing cic. My situation and being on medicare makes it a good solution for now.
