On the other side

I had my hip replacement surgery today. Went in to the surgery

center at 10:30, had the surgery and had a pt session and then

went home at around 6. Can`t lift my leg by myself but I can move

slowly with a walker. A nurse is coming at 9 am to check on me

and a pt therapist is coming at noon. Doing well. I do have some

referred pain in my knee which is my biggest complaint. However

except for that all the pain is in the muscles or at the incision site

which will heal. The bone deep pain is gone which is lovely.

Hopefully can get some sleep tonight. Will talk later!

Home the same day ! That's amazing news well done. I found the hardest thing at first was to sit up and swing my legs out. I used two belts hooked together and connected to the footboard of the bed to pull myself up, I still needed help lowering and lifting my leg for awhile.

Your doing so good just be careful, speedy recovery to you.

Great job Michelle! Hope you have continued success. Sounds like you had the anterior approach.

Michelle,

You went home the same day as your surgery ! I'm stunned. You seem to be doing incredibly well. Are you in the UK ?

Best wishes....Rob

Wow 😱 I was in hospital for 6 days 😂. Keep up your pain medication regularly xxxxx is

That is the hardest thing to do. I will my leg to move and

it says nope! But am happy I`mean doing better than I

expected. Thanks for the nice words!

I actually had the posterior approach with a minimal incision. I

think it all depends on urban surgeon and I was lucky to have

the best.

I`m in the US in Ohio. This surgery center is specifically for

ortho procedures so no infectious diseases. I think they are

more concerned about thathe and u getting rest than keeping

you in the hospital if everything goes well. I do feel like I rested

well in my own bed.

Hi Michelle,

congratulations darling ... so they discharged you on same day as surgery ... wow ...

don't even try to lift your leg ... it is too streneous right now --- muscles and tendons were severed - do ankle rotations and foot pumps - getting out and into bed , going to the bathroom and tha's about it for a couple of days ..

do you have any support at home ?

You are such a hero !!!!   come back here anytime you have a question or concern or just want to talk or rant ...

big warm hug

renee

I have both Norco and dilauded so am keeping up for sure!

Thanks!

WoooooHoooo!

congratulations Hippie!

My husband and 18 year old son are both at home with me.

The home nurse just came and my incision looks great no

Discharge at all and only about 5 Iniches long. It's just weird

To want to move your leg and it just not move. Nurse said

that will be normal for about another 3 days or so. Thanks!

Thank you! I feel like i`m doing very well or at least better

Than I expected. :-)

Wow Michelle that sounds so great.  I can't believe you are being released so soon.  You must have had anterior approach.  What did you do for anesthesia?  So happy for you!  Mary

It's tricky to go home the same day after joint replacement! I hope your pain is well-controlled. It can get out of hand after all the surgery pain-relievers have worn off. Make sure you know who to call if you need more or better pain relief than you have been sent home with. Don't let things go so that you might be a weekend without what you need! May things continue to go well for you, Michelle!

Rest as much as possible, elevate, ice and do the round-the-clock pain meds. I was in the hospital for 4 days after my THR, since my blood pressure was quite low for awhile. Glad the nurse is coming to see you soon!

So pleased it all went well, I've been thinking about you after your earlier posts. Make sure you take all your pain meds for a bit! (I was out on day 2, always good to get home, as long as you have lots of help.) Wishing you all the best.

Well Michelle, I know that it's over 18hrs out now and you're

probably driving to the store and will be back to work full

time in another 2 days. Just kidding but I'm well impressed with

you. Just remember that you have to listen to your body and rest

as much as you can. Best of luck to you.

I had the posterior approach. I had the surgeon`s surgeon. He

made all the difference. I did have general anesthesia. It took

A little bit to wear off but I tolerate it well. Thanks!

I have my surgeon`so number and my home health group`s

number. Icing has been key as I have very little swelling. And

I`m staying on the clock with my pain medication for sure. I

feel lucky that I don`the have any other medical issues. Would

have made this much more difficult. Nurse said I was doing

well and I have them to call 24/7 if needed.

I am not shy about the pain medication for sure and my husband

Is making sure I don`t over do it as that will be my biggest

downfall. Thanks!
