# One crutch for a bit today!

well, 11 days post op, by accident I dropped a crutch, but I needed the loo, then, so as partner in kitchen downstairs I walked to loo with one stick on unoperated side (correct?), and back too! Felt bit shaky but hey, pleased it happened!

Well done but don't do it too often . I was told to use two crutches for six weeks so did for 5 . Limping around house now without but use one outside .
Doesn't it feel great when you do something new . . I tipped a cup of tea today so had to knee down to wipe it up . Was very careful but managed . Won't be scrubbing the floors tho habha .

I also started with 1 crutch around 11 or 12 days post op , when I went for my first walk outside on day 18 I thought I should use 2 crutches but found it really awkward so on day 19s walk I used 1 and managed twice the distance!

well done, i walk around my bungalow with one crutch I am 3 weeks post op. I find this easier than with 2 but I dont have the confidence to walk outside without 2.

Hi, I am post op 6 days and fingers crossed appears going well. I haven't yet asked the time period on crutches and future mobility as all my questions directed towards the op and state of my health immediately after. Thankyou for this great piece of info but I would like to add that the op will prevent me from Bluewater shopping with my wife for some months to come . Is there any particular technique when going onto one crutch that will greatly help please ?. Very best wishes and regards. Kevin (age53)

I don't think there is any given period for using your crutch as it is down to the individual. I was down to one crutch a week after the op and none seven days later. I did however make sure that a crutch was available one upstairs and one down just in case I needed it for any reason
