Sometimes we like an easy meal. Other times we are unwell and unable to do much in the way of cooking. One solution is to cook the whole meal in a single pot. The washing up is then easy too. Other times we want little effort and a light meal.
Please add your easy recipes here. That includes your varients of another's simple recipe. It also includes your slimed dow version of ordinary cooking.
Thank you! Having to get enough nutrients to try and get better, while being too unwell to manage it, and for some of us trying to do it alone is a Catch 22 situation!
Easy nutritious ways to eat are essential for some of us.
Three to five minutes before rice will be ready add fish to boiling rice and bring back to the boil.
When rice ready, drain and return pan to the heat.
Break eggs into pan.
Add chopped parsley and seasoning
Stir vigorously but briefly, serve and eat immediately. (If no one is watching, eat from the pan. Really yummy. Just shovel it in. When the pan is empty leave it soaking while you sit replete and happy.)
Now, that is a good point! Never ask me to cook or offer you food, because I can guarantee you will hate it!!
The first time I tried Babybel cheese. I unwrapped the plastic wrapper, and bit in to it and thought and thought what a horrible tasteing cheese. Then everyone started laughing at me, I said what's wrong "Dad, you're supposed to take the red wax stuff off first!!!", I thought oh well, no one told me! lol
The first time I tried a Pepperami stick, I took the green outer wrapping off, and tried it and thought gawd this is bloody chewy and quite spicey, again my daughter started laughing at me, I said whats wrong "Dad, you see the plastic part, that looks like a condom?" I said "Yeah!", she then said "thats a plastic wrapper! - you're not supposed to eat it!" LOL.. No, one tells me these things and half the time they wrap things up twice to catch fools like me out!
You've got me in hysterics Les! For such an intelligent man you're so lacking in common sense. Shame they don't do unwrapping things courses. Mind you you'd probably fail!
I have off days, thank gawd its not too many - and BTW, this part of your message "For such an intelligent man you're so lacking in common sense." my wife says that to me!! LOL
If I told you some of the stories I got up to in my teens, well not actually me, the guys I used to hang around with, you would think I was the clever one, and everyone else! lol
Shes always saying "You can do complex mathematics, and answer questions on The Chaser" and you can't do simple tasks! LOL Another common saying she always says is "...And, stop blaming your medications for your stupidness, when it's so obvious to the kids!"..LOL
I always tried one thing on every one of our children when they were younger, and everytime it "back-fired" on me! I used to wrap one present at least every Xmas, but put that much Sellotape on, so they would struggle to get it off.... Everyone of children, knew it would be something I would do and ask me to unwrap it!! Nothing goes as planned!
Oh, the Military is going over, just heard three Wessex Helicopters, can't miss them when they land just down the road. You can always tell if something important is going on around here or close to, the planes land at Fairford which isn't that far, then from there by Wessex Helicopters to here, from here its by cars. It used to be a RAF base, now its NATO - gawd when they done the changeover, we got stuck at a T-junction and had to wait for about 25-30 double-decker buses to go through, then we had to follow them, because we live just past the base.
Lol on your wife calling you that! I call myself an intelligent thick person with very good reason!
Here's an example: Me and my mentor used to go to stay with Fransican sisters in Somerset on retreats. We were sitting round the table eating with them and somehow the subjects of dentists came up and I've just got a really good new one.
Steve, my friend asked 'Which town? I struggled for a bit then said 'You know, the one the buses go to'.
RAF Chivernor where my brother trained is quite nearby. They use this open area as a training ground. Sometimes they fly over our houses so low it's terrifying, I thought my roof was going to come off ones. I made several complaints and they hardly do it now. Phew!
There's so much space to fly around in this area, two moors; why do they have to fly right over this tiny vilage as low as they can? Hummmmm
Some of the stupid things we do, good job we aren't all the same! Imagine a world of intelligent thick people!! lol
I like the buses go to the town one! Georgia, which town is that, we have buses up here, they must travel miles a day!!! LMAO
Well, you would love living here then... we have the NATO base just down the road, an airport just a bit further, so we always have the Police Helicopters going over, and the Air Ambulance which lands in Gloucester which is about 3-4 miles away. Then if you a bit futher out, we have the GCHQ Spaceship, well that's what it is nicknamed! It's the Government Communications HQ for Europe, if you look at from the outside it's probably about 3 or 4 floors high, but its deceiving, there is rumours that after the main part above ground was finshed, it goes down roughly 3 miles underground, with over 3,000 miles of cabling! just for phones. It can be seen on Google Maps, it's like a huge donut shape, I have no clue how many people work there but the carparks are absolutely massive. I guess if WW3 started and that place was nuked we would all be gone in seconds...if that!
That looks really good., and healthy too. Good for freezing too by the look of it. So comforting on a cold day and when running at a low ebb to pull a good helping out of the freeze, heat it and scoff it while the mouth is watering. mmmmmm This is the kind of food my wife makes me to maximise my chances of a cure for Prostate Cancer. Cooked tomatoes, vegitarian plus oily fish. Should leave an alkaline residue which is great for healthy cells and disliked by cancer cells.
O Les, how those 'errors' delighted me. I love you for them. How are we to know until we have the benefit of experience?.
Gosh, aren't daughters bold these days. I don't think even now I would propose such a likeness for a pepperani. Anyway aren't they rather skinny - the pepperanis of course!
Les, out of friendship I would certainly eat whatever you provided for me. I would remove wrappers etc. from my portion. It would not be polite to comment on your unusual tastes.
A great answer, one of the best. Anyway most places don't get any buses at all.
we used to get three Hercules is flying low over our house. The reason they came our way was because they were not allowed to fly low over the nearby town.
It's light to eat and digest like your recipes. Less energy used up to digest it.
And there's the point that using up too much energy cooking a meal if it's over-complicated and takes ages will reduce the energy you get from the meal. Catch 22 again.
This is a very old and healthy one pot dish but with a new twist that improves the flavour wonderfully.
Three heaped desert spoons of mixed medium and pinhead oatmeal
Half a litre of water
Half a level teaspoon of fine pink Himalayan salt
Add the salt to the water and bring to the boil. When boiling briskly sprinkle the oatmeal into the water stirring with a wooden spoon. This prevents lumps forming. Bring back to a brisk boil and then turn off the heat. Stir occasionally to prevent the meal sinking into a lump. After 10 minutes serve and eat. If you like your porridge thick and slabby leave it for another five minutes.
