One polycystic ovary - normal periods and hormone levels

Hi all,

Thank you in advance for taking the time to reply smile

I’m 24 years old and I have been dealing with significant weight gain, abdominal pain, cramping, bloating, fatigue for the last 7 months or so. I went to my GP, who ordered some bloods (full bloods, thyroid testing, coeliac, hormone panel etc) all came back normal. He then suggested I have a pelvic ultrasound which said that I had one dominant follicle in my right ovary and approximately 20 follicles measuring 6mm in my left ovary which the radiologist reported as “suggestive of left polycystic ovary”. I am confused about this as my periods have always been normal and regular, I don’t have bad acne or abnormal hair growth, and my hormone blood test was normal. I had previously been on the oral contraceptive pill for almost 10 years which I stopped about 6 months ago due to extremely high blood pressure and daily excruciating headaches (which all normalised coming off the pill). Can anyone give me a bit of insight into all of this?

Thank you.

I wasn’t diagnosed with PCOS over a decade ago and never had the excess hair growth or acne, and my periods were fairly normal for years. I went in for unexplained weight gain and was diagnosed. My only symptoms have ever been weight gain and infertility. 10 years of trying with no luck.

Sorry, stupid typo. I WAS diagnosed PCOS pcos. My androgen levels are usually normal, but when I get pregnant, my progesterone and hcg levels are always too low and  I’m i miscarry.
