Since the start of this year, I have been having strange symptoms in my body. The most prominent is a feeling of weightlessness in one side of body (legs/arms). It's not numbness or tingling, but feels as if my leg/arm is not there and I suddenly move it to confirm its existence. I can feel all touch sensations in them - pinching, scratching, strength, etc.
Here is a brief timeline of my symptoms and tests:
January, 2018 - Strange feeling of pins and needles for a split second anywhere in the body. Feeling of pressure/light ringing in the ears. Pressure in the back of head/neck. Trouble sleeping - waking up 2-3 times in the first hour of sleep.
February - Blood and Urine Tests by PCP. Elevated cortisol levels, cholestrol and blood sugar (113). I was put on Mirtazapine (15mg).
March - Took mirtazapine for around 6-7 weeks and felt better. Got a new job and moved to a new city and thought everything is fine. Stopped mirtazapine.
April - Mostly fine, except the pressure in back of head/neck and slight dizziness.
May- Strange feeling of right hand feeling really light suddenly while working on my laptop in office (I am software engineer)
June - Persistent feeling of ride side body being very light. Checking almost every minute if my arm and leg are there. Trouble sleeping - feeling of falling from a cliff in sleep 6-7 times every night.
Feeling off balance while walking (dizzy) and strange feeling while standing - as if I am in a elevator and it suddenly dropped down.
Went to the ER. Basic neurological exam, blood test and CT Scan of brain done. All normal (including blood sugar). Mostly absent from work.
July - Went to a specialist clinic - Neurologist and Cardiologist. Following is a list of tests that were done:
Cardio:
EKG - normal
3 Ultrasounds of arteries - normal
Event monitor for 3 days - normal
The cardiologist said I am fine and don't need to see him again.
Neuro
MRI of Brain - Normal
EEG - Normal
EMG - Normal
Vitamin B12 - 184 (low) (I am a vegetarian)
Vitamin D - 20 (low)
I was put on Melatonin for sleep and Vitamin B-complex tablets.
My balance and sleep have mostly gone since last 1.5 months, after I started taking melatonin and b-12. But the feeling of lightness/non-existence is still there in one side of body. It was always the right side but strangely it's the left side since yesterday.
Has anyone felt this? Could it be just because of low Vitamin B-12 and anxiety?
