One year hip check up... Stressed out about being judged lol

So today is the day. I get to go back to the vets for him to look at the first hip and I'm not sure what to expect.

My other hip has been playing up and painful no where near o the extent of my right but it still worries me and I'd actually rather get it done sooner than rather due to being self employed.

I have ankilysing spondalytis so the reality is.. chop one bit off another bit gets attacked... Can they just replace my pelvis... Lol or my blood.

My goal had been to loose three stone in the last year it's not happened due to eating issues like not eating for days then eating normally (not excessively). I'm strong I do yoga weights walk etc but I can't do cardio and if I wake up with chornic nerve pain or fatigue I can't really do much other than try to stay active and get through half an hour to 40 kind of something.

So I'm really worried about looking like a failure or something daft in front of the surgeon. How has everyone else's first year check up been? Xxx

I had a few 6 month checkups, all fine, the surgeon just discussed how I felt, and was quite happy with progress of the THR and showed me the other hip on the x-ray which showed a big gap, so no worries there.

We're all different, and the surgeons all know that.  You may have more problems than I did, but they'll just want to keep an eye out for anything getting to the stage where they have to do something and discuss it with you.

Best wishes

Graham

OK I went in for my one year check up yesterday. It was a revision of my twenty year old hip and the recovery has been excellent. I have been as normal on the revised hip even though it had to take all of my weight for several months as I had t total ankle replacement on the other side.

I walked about even miles yesterday and that was on top of an hour of swimming so everything is great. The surgery was done using the posterior approach.

Cheers Richard

Oops that should have been eleven miles yesterday......
