Hello everyone. I want to introduce myself to everyone. I am a 29 year old female and I have been suffering from stomach problems for about 3 years now. I am terrified of having something serious like colon or stomach cancer. I just had a CT scan today and waiting for results to come in. I am so depressed, anxious and scared over what the dr is going to tell me. I'm just praying to God it's nothing too serious. I don't really want to type everything out so here's a quick timeline of what's been going on with me so far. January 2017 - I started experiencing what I think was gastritis. Dull pains between my breast under the rib cage. Pain would come and go, it would get noticeably worst when I’d eat fatty or fried food. April 2018 - woke up one day and noticed I couldn’t stop belching for no reason. Still ongoing til this day. November 2018 - started getting extremely sharp, horrible stomach pains, everything I ate would trigger it and the only thing that would ease my pain was a hot shower. Went away after about 2-3 weeks. Started tasting iron/metallic in my mouth. April 2019 - burped up blood ONCE. Iron taste in my mouth would come and go. Got my insurance situated and finally went to see a dr. He kept brushing it off as “gastritis” July 2019 - had one drink 4th of July, woke up the next morning to use the bathroom and there was blood in the toilet. Went to see the dr and he kept saying I was fine. This was the start of my health declining, since July I’ve been losing weight, my upper stomach is extremely bloated, changes in bathroom and I’ve been having sharp pains around my navel. October 2019 - finally made the switch to see a new dr and now he is ordering all these testings done for me. Something my old doctor never pushed for and didn’t take me seriously. Fast foward to today, since October i've gotten multiple blood tests, kidney/liver functions came back normal. My iron levels were fine but my dr noticed that my red blood cells were smaller than normal (he ordered additional bloodwork) and thinks i have thalassemia. I also have high protein in my blood and urine. Did a stool test, came back negative. And now i'm just waiting for the CT scan results. I have an endoscopy and colonoscopy ordered for the end of this month. Has anyone ever experienced these symptoms before? If so, what was the outcome? I can't stress enough how afraid I am. I have two small children and would love to watch them grow up. Please if anyone has any insight feel free to share your story. I know this isn't a place to get medical advice, but it just feels good to know there are other people going through the same thing as you.
Maybe you have gastritis or IBS if your bowel habits have changed. An endoscopy would detect gastritis if you have it. Weight loss can be caused by anxiety or eating less. What are your bowel habit changes? Diarrhoea, constipation? If you are constipated and straining on the toilet, this can cause haemorrhoids or fissures which can bleed. The blood tends to be bright red. The other possibility is a stomach ulcer.
Please ask your doctor to test your pancreatic function through a blood test.
I was having chronic pancreatitis for about 1.5 years before i got full blown severe acute pancreatitis because i had been ignoring the symptoms.
I first noticed bowel issues, loose stool and diarrhea. My stools became fattier. I was having stomach pain, nausea constantly. Headaches out the wazoo. Better to be safe than sorry. Could also be a gallbladder issue.
