Onlyn 2.5 hours sleep a night!!!!

Hey guys is anyone here in the same boat as me. Have only been getting 2.5 hours sleep a night for the past week and are seriously concerned this is having a dangerous effect on my health. Advice please?

I went for 6 days with zero sleep the other week...

3hrs a night is enough to keep us going but obviously not what we need...

I've had chronic insomnia for 13 years, often going days without sleep...

I suggest you try some breathing techniques before sleep, and also take notes before you go to bed of anything on your mind...

Google 4-7-8 breathing and start doing it before you go to bed

Thanks dhmc, I thought I had it rough. So sorry to hear you have been through that. Sounds terrible, are you taking medication at all for sleep? Many thanks for the advice I will try that tonight.

I have been taking Zopiclone for 5 months at 7.5mg but the docs want me off it. So down to 3.75mg. Withdrawals probably are playing a large part in my issue unfortunately.

I know how you feel I’m going to sleep at half 1/2 am and waking up at 4 every night it’s getting me down I always tell myself I’m going to have an early night but I never can sleep because y anxiety hits me hard

Just Awful Kayleigh,

The worst part for me is after I wake up I start getting all manner of symptoms, especially chest pains and shaking and dizziness. Do you get real bad morning anxiety as well along with physical discomfort?

Hey Mike,

Insomnia won't cause anything acutely dangerous but I had a long spell of it earlier this year. this made me become severely depressed and anxious, basically been a state although on the mend now I believe.

Depends how you want to play it, I've gone hardmode no caffeine no alcohol moderate exercise sleep hygiene, 2L water per day... I'm sleeping better but not perfect. Also, and this is a hard one... stay away from negative bullsh*t

Hey thanks Al,

It's definitely a hard one. I had a panic attack 5 months ago and it's completely screwed me up. Sorry to hear you've had a rough time. Anxiety and depression are monsters. Wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy. Good on you for cutting back on the alcohol and caffeine they can certainly play a big role in no sleep. I'm very much the same mate, exercise, water and healthy eating. Just so hard when all you want to do is be back to a normal everyday happy person aye. Sleep is a big one for the recovery.

All we can do is keep at it and hope time is the healer. thanks for the reply mate and all the best on the recovery.

Yeah I've had a mind bending panic attack in the past aswell that sh*t lasted about 8 months before I was anything like normal. I did a lot of reading about it back in the day all it is is a stupid defensive mechanism but it's not exactly a pleasant one. The guy on anxietynomore helped me a lot in that era, maybe give it a look.

Thanks mate gotta do what you can and not just rely on meds. Unfortunately means I can't be the drinking smoking womanizer of years past but I'll settle for well hydrated vaping womanizer. You sound like you're on the ball anyway and you'll get the rewards in due course. Don't be fooled by blips.

Take care

Al
