Op approaching quickly

Well i go in for my hip replacement and reconstruction on Monday. Im beginning to feel the nerves now and even my sleeping tablets cant shut out my thoughts on a night but I think I just want it over and done with so i can start my recovery.

I also have to say I seriously hate the MRSA disinfectent we have to use, who else had issues with sticking cotton buds up there nose with el on it? Feels awful hahaha.

Also found some interesting photos of me when i was little haha, who can look that happy whilst in hospital haha?

Well, all I'll say is that you won't get a nifty little hospital gown like that one this time!

Good luck, my darling, the first two weeks are tough but you have some good people around you and friends on here.

I'd also say they are not going to use any ropes and traction on you this time!!

Shame about the gown, good job i bought some cute nighties even though im not a nightie type of girl.

Just got a phone call. The OT is coming tomorrow. Hope they arent scared of reptiles hahahaha 😂

I plab to write an update after the op so i can actually tell you all what happened because i dont even know yet hahaha.

Whooo no ropes 😂 xx

Hi Sarah, The word ' reconstruction ' caught my eye can you elaborate please. I think we wouldn't be human if we didn't worry about an impending operation but have to focus on the positive outcome to be able to get on with our lives!, good luck, Tony

Hahaha when i was little they fused my dislocated ball the outside of the socket. Since then the bones grown into a big blod looking thing so the surgeon has to make a whole new socket and reconstruct my whole hip to make it actually normal. He also has to move my hips down as one side is 5cm higher than the other haha.

I dont even know why im so nervous. It will be my 12th but i suppose its because im older and more aware of how serious it is hahaha

Good luck Sarah! Will be thinking of you come Monday. Hope it all goes well. X

Good luck for Monday Sarah, I'll be thinking of you. Just thought I'd let you know I've had a couple of follow ups since my reconstruction and the graft is all still in place and now at week 11 I'm putting some weight on the op leg. My leg difference was similar to yours and its definately longer now! I'm able to lift it up off the bed to do my exercises and already it's stronger than pre op. The only downside so far is that I might always have to put socks on behind my back as the risk of dislocation will always be there. Have been told I'll be able to cycle will will be easier now my legs are similar lengths. Finally feeling like things are on the up. Try not to feel nervous, you've been through ops before and hopefully this one is going to make a huge difference to your life. Good luck Sarah x

Aww look how cute my sarah is jesus that looks sore. I will be with you every step of the way hun you know that xxxx

Thanks hun xx

Iv always done the socks behind back. Have you? And im happy to hear that everythings going so well for you hun. Thats amazing xx

Good luck Sarah for monday - hope all goes well for you.xxx

Thank you 😊 xx

Hi sarah,

Good luck in your operation. I know you are an old hand but things don't get any easier, do they?

No operation is easy and this will be a big change for your body to take on board. To say nothing of your mind. Sometimes our brain cannot kee up with what is going on, can it?

Fingers crossed everything goes according to plan.

Hahaha you are so right. No operation ever gets easier and now im older i know how serious this is and how things could go wrong. Ill feel so much better once iv woke up after the op haha.

And thank you 😊 xx
