I have had my Hibi scrub showers, drank my pre op drinks sat in bed thinking about tomorrow. Book in 7:15 am op in morning for right TKR plus knee cap. The same feelings I had in February when I had left one done. Only I know what to expect!!!!! Knowing does not make it better, in fact I think it makes it worse. But I know that 6 weeks in should be a turning point , so nothing like wishing your life away.
Best of luck for a speedy recovery Louise. God bless that you're going through this again.
Thank you be glad when all over x
I had new plastic knee cap and metal trochlea in March this year. Recovery was slow due to muscle wastage. Other knee is now twanging and I'm pretty sure I'll face surgery on that knee too. Only thing is, it makes my stomach flip over when I think about it. First operation was fine and I coped really well but you're right.......knowing what is coming makes it worse.
I wish you well for tomorrow and for the weeks to come. Keep us posted on your progress.
Thanks I will be back once home from hospital. X
Sweetie, wishing you the very best of luck. Remember this (am sure everyone on this site will disagree but,) having had one procedure, like having children, your best bet is to tear up the rule book as the second one will not be the same. What you learnt first time round, may be totally different the second time round. Take it easy, be kind to yourself,be patient and be a good patient. You will be fine. Don't be hard on yourself, it really isn't a case of been there, done that; got the T-shirt (knee!!!). The guys on this site will be routing for you.x
Wishing you all the best, Louise. I had that really early start!
So true, I kept a log of first one so maybe should start another for this one and then when all ok compare!! Lol really I think it is like you say each one if different, even symptoms are different but xrays nearly the same?? Thank you for your thoughts x
thank you. One thing about early start hopefully I will not be kept hanging around x
Hi Louise
I haven't given a full update on my surgery yet, but couldn't let tonight go without saying GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!
Knowing what to expect isn't necessarily a good thing, but you'll be fine! I'm already doing things that It took me weeks, if not months, to achieve first time round.
I hope you get at least a few hours sleep, and that all goes well for you xxx
Good luck for tomorrow look forward to hearing from you after op. Everywhere is different i didn't have hibi scrub shower or pre op drinks x
Hi Louise,
By the time you read this your op will have been safely completed. You know what you have to do post TKR. I am 9 weeks post op and like you will need a second one on my other knee shortly. I found using an exercise bike of great help to get over that crucial 80--90 degree bend. I did mine in three weeks. Also find a hydro pool if you didn't first time round, absolutely magic.
Good luck love, keep up the exercises.

Keep up the positive thoughts! I am preparing to have my second one done on December 17th and at 7 weeks, my new knee feels much better than the pain I have on my old knee! I have set my sights on being almost pain free in the spring of 2016! I know I have a long road ahead, but something had to change! Lots of pain with the old knees and now I have hopes that next year will be much different!
All will go great in surgery and we'll be waiting to hear from you when you get a chance to update us!
I'll be thinking of you!
I'll soon be in the same shoes.
All the best!

Best wishes.....as others will say....every knee is different as is every surgery and recovery. Mine has been opened 5 times and 3 different prosthesis and everyone has taken a little different twist. One thing for sure.....they all hurt to beat hell but survival is a littler easier because we know its all temporary. Don't get so sure of the process you do something dumb, like I did. Got out of bed the next day and fell and broke my femur.....more surgery the next day. Take your time and move forward scythe pace that works for you.
You will do great!
I had my second one done four weeks ago tomorrow. I was really concerned that it might be rough because it was my worst knee of the two.
I was very pleasantly surprised that everything went fine, even better than knee #1. Whew!
I am sending out prayers of calm and strength to you tonight.
Sleep well, don't worry.
Be positive.
Soon you will have TWO good knees!
Best of luck to you Louise! Hope your surgery goes smoothly and your recovery is quick and easy!
Thank you everyone for you thoughts etc. needless to say I am really nervous of the next stage of this journey. As has been said before I will see ( hear from)you the other side of the op. X
Good luck at least you know what to expect it's a tough old road . And you be a new person next year
Good luck
Hi Louise, good luck for tomorrow. I know exactly how you feel. I had my 2nd TKR 4weeks ago. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. xxx
