Op go ahead

Saw my Consultant surgeon today. He showed me pictures of my barium meal test showing most of my stomach up in the chest and drew several diagrams to show the bad state of my hiatus hernia etc. Am now on the list for a Hiatus Hernia repair and Nissen's Fundoplication op. What a wonderful man he has been. He listened to me, carried out numerous tests and came to this conclusion, as well taking out my gallbladder and repairing a inguinal hernia, both last year.

Keep on at your medical people. Don't let them fob you off. My suregeon said today \"his patients are always right\".

Hi Gemini - glad you are getting things sorted.

Its just been one thing after another for you. your Consultant sounds wonderful. i just hope you dont have to wait too long.

look after yourself, all the best.

Hi Vixen Lovely to hear from you. My Consultant said I have had this for many years but it has just got worse over the last 2/3 years. I am so grateful that he had the time to listen and arrange investigations. I have so much respect for him and I now look forward, with the grace of God, to a better quality of life after recovery time. Hope you are keeping well.

You might still need a tweak or two afterwards (maybe a touch of balloon dilation) but I've got my fingers crossed for a perfect outcome for ya smile

Thanks Dr Spock. The Consultant did explain that sometimes there needed to be a stretching procedure after the op. Hopefully not.

Have just heard today that despite having a newly opened state of the art hospital I will have to wait 6 months for my op. What a blow.

Hi Gemini,

I am sorry you are having to wait so long for your op, like you say it is a bit of a blow, your condition has been ongoing since you started out on this site. You have had a rough time of things - one thing after another.

If its any help, i do understand how you must be feeling - it took me 9 months from referal to get my incisional repair done. i was i pain all that time, it affected my life on a daily basis.

try to keep positive - i hope this op (when you eventually get it!!) gives you the relief you rightly deserve!! i hope you dont need much in the way of 'tweaks' (sorry i read Dr Spocks comment and went a bit shivery!!)

look after yourself - try to have a good Christmas, i hope you hear some good news sooner rather than later.

Vix

Thanks Vix. I will get there eventually. Will continue to eat little and often and low fat. My surgeon told me sometimes there is a follow up procedure is swallowing becomes difficult.

It is difficult to plan things now, which is the biggest problem.

have a good Christmas. Thanks for your support.

Maggie

To save money the government has changed the waiting list rules

Ho ho ho Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas and a painfree time to you Dr Spock.

:holly: Merry Chrimbo one and all! :P :D :holly:
