Open cholecystectomy....issues after surgery

Had posted 4 weeks ago but no replies still so trying again
Had open cholecystectomy 18-5-19. Had check up and told by surgeon to up the pain meds to maximum and return again for second check up .
Still having pain, exhausted and fatigued. No appetite and nauseous.

Was told could eat anything . Have read on internet what others eat or avoid but lots seem contradictory. I don’t eat fried food anyway or fruit.

Would like to hear from others experiencing the same and who have also had gallbladder removed open procedure as keyhole wasn’t possible.

Thanks

Hi mine was keyhole, but find avoiding dairy and anything fizzy helps. Oats instead of wheat and try to stay off processed foods. Eat little and often, don’t leave long gaps.

Hi, I have spoken to people who have had surgery, they have said it took the up to 3 or 4 months for the body to adjust and recover properly. Keep taking to the surgeon. Hopefully things will settle down.

Hi. I wonder if your medication may also be causing fatigue, nausea or lack of appetite. could you ask your doctor to try something else? I have felt a bit better since I stopped my pain meds. no more nausea and appetite returning.
I’m on day 11 and still very tired but people I’ve spoken to say it can take months to recover completely. Everyone’s different it seems and alot depends on age too.
I’m envious of the people I read about who say they can eat anything afterwards. I am so careful. I eat very small meals and I eat often. but limit dairy, fat and gluten. It seems to be working. I do still have gas and gurgling and cramps though. (but I have a history of IBS)
maybe speak to your doctor. but try not to worry because it seems everyone reacts differently to surgery.
I’m trying to build up my strength with healthy food and I walk around the garden as often as I can, they say it’s important to keep moving and not lie down all day.
let us know how you’re doing.
