I've had an open wound beside my vagina, right wear the edge of my underwear sits. I shave my pubic hair a lot so I'm thinking that it must be an ingrown hair, although when I (or my boyfriend) look closely at it, we can't see any hair poking out and I don't want to "dig" around for one.
I've been putting plasters over it to stop my underwear rubbing against it and it does hurt and bleed a little. It's a small wound - maybe about 3-4mm.
Is there anything I could do to help it heal? Any help would be appreciated. I've had this for a couple of weeks now.
Hi Karen, Is the spot raised up like a pimple? Is it red? Does it weep fluid? If so I would get your doctor to check it out. I had something similar to it and it turned out to be MRSA. MRSA is a serious infection of the skin. It can spread to other parts of your body that come in contact with the fluid that comes out of it. The only way to treat it is to have a doctor evaluate it. If it is MRSA, they will need to cut it open to drain the fluid and you will need some strong topical and oral antibiotics. Please don't wait, it can get really bad quickly and it will spread to your boy friend as well. Take care.
It isn't. It's more like a small 'hole' there. It heals over if I manage to keep the area clear but any irritation opens the wound again.
