Hey,
My op has been booked for the 10th April and I'm super super nervous. It is staying as open surgary.
I saw my consultant last week and we spoke about it all and he answered my questions.!
I'll be on a PCA machine and given other meds to help with pain.
I'm so so scared! Im finding my symptoms are getting worse as I'm getting really stressed!
Has anyone had this op lately? They are taking the cyst, ovary and maybe the tube to
Holly I'm having the same thing on the 9th but mine is being done laproscopically. How big is your cyst? Oh by The way, super anxious here as well, my axiety level is through the roof. Having issues sleeping.
Hey holly how old are you how long have you had this cyst I have only had an ultra sound in begging of march and been told I have dermoid cyst
Holly,
I’m getting my op April 13! My anxiety has been off the charts as well as I’m petrified since this is my first op. They say they’ll go in keyhole but might convert to open and I’m scared of waking up with a big incision. My cyst is an endometrioma
If you have a PCA machine, then I think you can administer your own pain meds to monitor the pain. I hope everything goes well! If you need to talk, feel free to message me! I’m in Canada
Hi Holly,
I'm sure everything will be okay. I was more bothered by the symptoms than the actual operation. Although I only had the keyhole surgery. I doubt it's worse than having a cesarean section - probably much less of an incision.
Annmarie,
I had the keyhole op and I was functioning to do daily activities the next day. My incisions were very, very small at less than a centimeter in length. The incision through the bellybutton was a bit bigger but not at all noticeable. It was the tape that was the messy part. I just wrapped a plastic bag around my waist and taped it a bit went I has a shower. The surgical tape stayed on until everything was healed. I was in a bit of pain but it was the worry I'd split open the stitches when I bent back to put my bra and tops on. I was pretty well healed after a week and a half.
Good luck to you both! The operation is nothing compared to the nuisance of the cyst!
Sorry, I forgot to mention. When I had the 11 cm cyst removed at the end of October (which is 5 months ago) the surgeon took out the cyst, right ovary and that side of the fallopian tube. I haven't had a period since September so I don't know if I'm going into early menopause (although the doctor said my other ovary will 'take over everything'
or if it's just stress.
Hi Lisa,
So glad for your speedy recovery! I’m really worried about the pain afterwards when I wake up and during recovery. You mentioned you had a keyhole for your cyst. Do you mind sharing your recovery experience? I have been getting insomnia lately.
Thank you Lisa, you make me feel so much better. I'm terrified of the surgery, and yes mine will be keyhole as well. Can I ask how large was your cyst? Was it a dermoid as well?
Lisa can I ask how old are you? My Dr will be doing the same removing ovary(cyst) and both tubes. I'm 47 with kid so I do not need them anymore. A few people have told me that the symptoms are far worse than the recovery it sounds like you agree.
Joyce
I'm in the same situation, having a lot of anxiety my surgery scheduled for the 9th, can I ask how large you cyst is? I hear laproscopic surgery is slot less pain than open surgery.
Joyce
Some tidbits of information that I gained for after surgery, sleep either on an incline or sitting partially up, do not lay flat or on your side, this will help with the gas build up. Lots of peppermint tea (decaf) and activated charcoal pills to help eleviate gas. Hope this helps.
My cyst is 11cms fluid and soild filled. They are unsure what mine is due to scans not being clear.
I am having trouble sleeping too which doesn't help things at all!
Good luck! How big is your cyst??
Hey Annmarie,
My endometrioma is 12x12x9cm. I’m hoping they can take it out minimally invasive as I don’t deal well with pain. I’m really hoping the procedure won’t cause sharp pains during recovery. I heard gas pains were really bad too. How big is your cyst?
Hey.
I am 23 years old - 24 this year.
I'm not sure how long I've had it- I found out the first weekend of January that I had it as I ended up in a&e in severe amount of pain and they done ultra sound and found it. Since then I've had cancer blood tests, ct scan and MRI scan
What are they doing about yours? How big? X
Annmarie,
I heard the same thing with sitting partially upright with pillows propped behind you since lying down might disperse the gas throughout the whole body. However, my anesthesiologist told me that GasX or charcoal caps won’t work since those are for intestinal gas but the gas we are getting is in the abdominal cavity. But for sure, peppermint tea does help I heard!
Hey,
How big is yours? This isn't my first op but I'm so scared. At first they wanted to do keyhole but it got changed after my case went to cancer team and scans were not clear so went to open then it changed again last week to keyhole and the convert to open if needed but my consultant called me last night and we spoke and it's been changed to open again due to my worries about keyhole ect
I'm not sure what mine is apart from a cyst- I have a soild part so it will go for testing after.
Not sure how a PCA machine works but consultant said I'll be on one.
Thank you ! Always a message away! I'm in uk x
Mine is between 2-3cm. They found it during a transvaginal ultrasound. I went to the Dr's since I was bleeding for 3 weeks straight. They found a uterine fibroid, and the cyst which they will be removing both. My symptoms have been really bad. Not sure if it's from the cyst, fibroid or both. My Dr sent my scans to two different reputable ONGYN radiologist specialist and they both came back and said it was a dermoid cyst. My Dr wanted to wait to remove it, I told her no I want it out asap. My mom had one the size of a grapefruit and it burst, I do not want that to happen to me I hear it's excruiating pain when they burst.
Hey,
It's been long time waiting and I probs should be glad it's soon but worry comes in pretty badly.
My consultant has said it's like a c section. What was your cyst and how big?
The incision will be from left side to right side
How old are you? I've been told that they will take ovary and cyst and maybe tube and that my left side will take over.
