Hi all, I turned up at 6.30am today after phycing myself up for my hip replacement, only to be back home at 11.30am as it was cancelled due to builders, of all things, turning up to do work at hospital and walking into theatre area in their work clothes, so risk of contamination and subsequent infection too high to carry out planned operation. Oh well hope it's a nice sunny weekend so I can make the most of it
Operation now plannwdcfor 6.30 Monday evening, so not too long to wait
Oh no. That must be so annoying. How can they let that happen? Im planning on having the house and me ship shape when i go in. Id be gutted if had to do again lol. The mess my lot can make in a weekend is probably more scary than the op lol.
As you say though think positive and enjoy the weekend.
Not nice, to have gone through nerves and build up, and now another night before. Stay positive, have a great fun filled weekend, treat yourself and good luck and best wishes for Monday. Keep us all posted, we all be thinking of you Monday evening.
I had 2 of my dates cancelled before the final one but at least I didn't get to the hospital.
The first one I was told at 6.30pm night before being there at 7am next day and I had been a mess that day.
The next I was told a few days before, both were due to black alert and orthapaedics aren't life threatening so are first to be cancelled. The final one they referred me to private hospital so it definitely wouldn't be cancelled.
So I was better off after all, worth the 2 week wait. En suite, free parking for visitors, free TV, visitors any time, better food, more ratio of nurses like a long weekend away, hope all goes well Monday, look forward to hearing your post post op.
Oh Thats awful....make sure you treat yourself over the weekend......something nice, luxurious
I'm surprised it happned at such short notice.......my hospital said {both THR's} I must ring at aout 6am to check tht it was still on......meant getting up even earlier but I did and thank goodness they wern't cancelled....but like I say...treat yourself LOL
I was gutted but it was strange circumstances that lead to the op being cancelled. Builders were due in at 3pm after all surgeries were finished, but they turned up early and tramped into theatre area in their outside clothes and work boots and so contaminated the operating theatre, so due to high risk of infection, they had to cancel. To say the theatre sister and my consultant were annoyed is an understatement !!!!
At least I can have a leisurely day on Monday before I go in as dont have to get to hospital until 5pm and have the op around 6.30pm
Yes not nice to be cancelled. My cancellation was due to builders turning up early and walking into theatre area in their work clothes and boots and contaminating the area !!!
Although I am an NHS patient, my op is being done at Spire private hospital, so was in an en suite room, etc.
