Absolutely crapping my self having my operation tomorrow 7.30am not sure if keyhole or open ?? I've not even had a consultation or meet the surgeon/ consultants??
In the US the surgeon , staff, or hospital patient support group always go over what the surgery proceedures are details on anesthesia, and forms to fill our pre surgery.
perhaps that is all done the morning of. I would rather have all the information brfor surgery to better prepare.
i wonder if it's to late to check with the hospital or ant infor available .
i would be upset to. Can you reschedule or is this urgent?
I wish I had better information for you. Hopefully someone will respond soon who has had experience in the UK .
prayers and blessings sent your way for surgery tomorrow?
Why didn't you meet with the Surgen? I wouldn't feel comfortable having a surgery before discussing it with the physician who's going to do it.
I would think anywhere in the world you would have to sign releases and permission... I had my surgery May 30 and I felt bad for about a month. BUT I am SO GLAD I had the surgery. My constant nausea is gone, no more throwing up and I gradually went back to a normal diet. If you have had some tests that it needs to come out, it probably does. You will likely have a lot of gas pain for several days afterwards if you have keyhole, and if open the gas pain should be less but the recovery will be longer. I don't know what your pre-op symptoms are, but since I had mine, I have met numerous people who had their gallbladder out and nearly everyone was totally happy they had it done. Good Luck!
I didnt see my surgeon either until the day of my operation and then she came and talked quickly through it, i did have a pre-op though with a nurse to sign forms and ask any questions.
Did you have a pre-op?
Hi, I had mine out a month ago (I'm in the UK). They will always do keyhole unless there are know reasons that this would not be possible - there will always be a small chance that during your surgery they may have to open you up but I think the biggest majority of us have keyhole with no issues!
It really isn't that bad - the pain is bearable although sometimes the gas that they use to inflate you out a little so they can get to everything is a bit painful when it's dispersing after your op.
I had exactly 100 stones removed and after 3 or 4 days I was almost back to normal - please don't worry too much and good luck, let us know how you are! Lisa
Great support post Lisa.
Thanks, just putting it out there that it's not that bad - well worth a few days of discomfort if it sorts out gallbladder symptoms! 😊
It will help free you from gallblagger pain. I had such terrible attack the emergency room though Imhad a heart attack . After tests no hearts attack so given pain meds and sent home till the next attack.
