Opposite knee pain after hip replacement

Hi all, I’m new to this forum so apologies if this is something that has been asked before.

I’m 41 and had a THR 3 months ago. I was going great, had ditched the crutches and felt like progress was good (not that I can ask anyone as my physio discharged me after 9 weeks/4 sessions without actually doing anything.

I returned to work two weeks ago and suddenly i have terrible pain the the knee if my opposite leg - bending it enough to go down steps for example is agony. It hurts front and back and radiates up the outside of my leg up my thigh. Is this something anyone else has experienced?

Unfortunately my job is totally sedentary and I am overweight after years of not being able to use my legs properly but surgeons telling me I was too young for surgery. Any suggestions for what might help protect it while I’m sitting for hours (unfortunately standing up is not an option for what I do)?

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Nikki

it may be that you have strained the knee by using that leg to bend when you were recovering from the operation. i’d suggest you speak to occupational health. i don’t know what work you do, but there is legislation that forces companies to make reasonable adjustments to working practices when necessary.

Bear in mind that normally there is a lot of roughness involved so it is possible that. your back or pelvis is out of alignment. Similar situation for me a couple of years after a full swift recovery. Chiropractor solved the issue in just one visit. Cheers, Richard
