I have OLP which will not settle having tired numerous medications my consultant is now going to try Dapsone .

I have had this condition for 4 years and it's a painful nightmare.

Has any body had success using this drug .Im very concerned about the side effects . To

I chose not to go on Dapsone after Plaquenil and quinacrine did not help. There was constant blood  monitoring with both and I wanted no more of that and the side effects! What has helped me the most is a book, The Autoimmune Solution. I have been on the AIP diet for a year, slowing reintroducing foods. Have a flare up now...must have eaten something I shouldn't have!

Thank you for your reply ,I am very very reluctant to start this drug because of huge side effects.Also the constant weekly bloods .

Can I ask AIP DIET what is this will look at the book too any thing to help night mare condition abd painful. I'm

thanks for this suggestion, will try the l-lysine and zinc right away  I am 72, newly diagnosed with oral and facial LP  YUK!

Hi Margaret  how long have you had LP and olp...I am 58 and was diagnosed about 15 years ago but only last few years with symptoms I take a zinc supplement...my dentist recomended it....I noticed mine came after an abnormal smear test for which I had colposcopy... Have you ever had trouble with smears... x do you have any body itching

maybe had this for 2 months now, but just diagnosed 2 weeks ago.  No problem with smears except once and then hysterectomy 40 years ago.  Yes, lots of skin itching through the years due to allergies, nothing serious though,nor long lasting.  Bought some L-lysine today and will increase the zinc supplement dose, how much is ideal?  Do you have the olp or the skin type?

How much Zinc is a good dosage?  1000 mgm of l-Lysine?   So happy to hear you have found something that works for you!  Fingers crossed it will work for me also!

Hi Margaret 

my dentist diagnosed me with the olp he sent me for a biopsy... White patches in my mouth... I cannot touch spicy foods it burns like mad.... I have  itchy parts on my skin  but not been diagnosed with it on skin although I'm sure it is  doctor gave me some cream for dry skin..my doctor doesn't seem to want to talk about it...also my bones are not like they use to be...did you have your hysterectomy because of abnormal cells Margaret...I have just gone through a divorce which as been so stressful and I don't think this as helped  makes things worse...never again would I marry... Hah!!!! Are you married Margaret or do you live alone.... x

Oh the zinc Margaret they are called ABC plus from holland and Barrett they are like torpedoes every vitamin in them especially zinc he reckons there the best...much better than the supermarket ones X
