It’s been a tough month. Back on March 11th i suffered a fractured right foot with a laceration from the top of my foot to the bottom. That’s still healing, 2-3 more weeks before it’s weight-bearing. Due to the severity of the wound and my hesitation to go to the ER because i was in the middle of moving, i managed to contract MRSA. I was on IV antibiotics for 3 weeks THEN all hell broke loose. I developed a full body rash and intermittent fever that topped out at close to 104. After being back in the hospital for another week, the rash and fever hadn’t presented so they felt confident sending me home, unaware that the allergic reaction was something called DRESS Syndrome. A day after i got home, the rash & fever came back and my face swelled to the point that i was unrecognizable. Another week in the hospital, rash and fever are gone, as well as most other symptoms, but the Oral Thrush is kicking my a$$. It’s excruciating, incredibly frustrating as a simple bite of the wrong food invites the sores over the entire mouth - tongue, cheeks, lips, throat - to flare up, and there seems to be no end. I’ve been taking BOTH Nystatin & Magic MouthWash for days and although the widespread sores seem to be dulling just a tiny bit, i think that can e attributed to finding the select few foods - soup, milk, and yogurt - that i can actually eat without damn near crying. Anyway, does anyone have experience with reducing or eliminating oral thrush discomfort? This is the type of thing where you think to yourself, “Ok, this can only last a few days otherwise it’s almost unfair…ok it’s been a few days and it’s excruciating…OK IT’S BEEN A #@% WEEK AND I CANT DRINK WATER WTF!!!” So, that’s where I’m at. Meds + saltwater gargles + limited food/drink = slight reduction in pain but no signs of the thrush actually going away. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
