Orlistat - does it work?

evening!! I am new to this forum. I have been prescribed orlistat from my fertility doctor as me and my husband are wanting to have ivf but I need to lose weight before getting ivf on the NHS. I am currently over weight and very unhappy as I used to be very slim and very active!! 

All I want to know is, do this orlistate work with a low fat diet? I would appreciate someone giving me advice on this! Thanks people xx

Yes it does but you have to eat properly at least 3 meals a day I was eating less Dr told me I was doing the wrong thing

Thanks for your advice marie2015! I'm so unhappy at the moment and I can't believe I'm being told to lose weight in order to get ivf treatment xx

Hiya, they do work as long as you stick with it. I am in the same boat as you I was told to loose weight before they would refer me to even see a consultant about fertility. I have managed to loose just under 2 stone I still need to loose another stone an then I will be referrred but it's worth it. I follow slimming world extra easy plan too and that has boost my weight loss over the last couple if weeks. Xx

Hi yes it does work I have been on it about a yr and I have lost 3stone but has Rachel said you do have to follow a low fat diet or the consequences are nasty (orange oil) ...😨 not good .......i also follow slimming world extra easy plan I do it online as i don't have time to go to a class , good luck and keep on here you get some good tips and advice 😆

Hi

It does work it worked very well for me but i gave it 100% at all times. Losing weight does help with fertility i went from a 24 to a 12 in a year
