Hiya,
I have Underactive thyroid and also other problems and have been told I might have ME, Fibromyalgia, they dont really know whats up with me. However I have not heard about Orlistat and would appreciate it if someone could tell me more. Where to get it. Can it be obtained from the doctors etc. My weight is a problem as I have sleep apnea. I have been advised to loose weight but with the tiredness etc I can not get motivated. It would be really good to be able to take something that is not a miracle diet aid but that works and is ok to use.
Any replies would be very grateful x
Hi. The pills cut out some of the fat from food and eliminates it from your body with your stools. They really help but you also have to make an effort to have a healthier lifestyle and eating habits. If you eat the wrong things you will have very nasty surprises such as the oil coming out without you being able to control it. It makes you choose your food carefully and that is good so you'll get used to eat better. Ask your doctor to try orlistat and he will advice you.
I also have had thyroid issues and have been diagnosed with Graves disease. It is in remission at the moment and therefore my GP has prescribed Orlistat for me. It cannot be taken whilst your thyroid has not been stabilised, this information is available on the paperwork that comes with the tablets so my advice would be to try other ways of losing weight whilst they regulate your thyroid
I also have under active thyroid and started taking them for weight loss , I am 19stone and got them from my GP. Not sure when to take levothyroxine, someone said leave 4 hour gap. You have to show weight loss within the first month of taking them before GP will repeat the prescription. I follow a low fat diet like slimming world and have no unwelcome side effects, lost a few pounds so far in first week or so. I think they will help me if I stick at it. My metabalism is too slow and I,ve put on lots of weight. I am also diabetic.
