orthopedic appointment

I have finally got my orthopedic appointment a week on Monday after a 4 month wait, for my knee. I was wondering what to expect and if there is anything I will need. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What is the problem with your knee, and how old are you?

Prepare your house well before the op . Remove carpets and mats. A special seat over the loo will help enormously. If you have a walk in shower a plastic chair is a great help the first few days. If your furniture is low get a chair where you can sit comfortably with both feet flat on the floor while the thigh is at a straight angle. If you can fill your freezer with ready made meals...you wont be doing any cooking for a while. Supermarket on line so you dont need to carry anything. Insist on decent painkillerd...paracetamol and ibuprofeno is not adequate.

The last time I went to doctors they didnt know what was wrong. So I'm getting referred for further investigation.

And im 16

Oh sorry... Thought you were going to have a tkr! Just take it easy and wait to see what they find out. Hope your problem has an easy fix!!!!

What are your symptoms?

Tenderness on inside of knee, intermittent pain, pain increase on climbing stairs and landing on the effected leg, severe pain shooting from inner knee to inside my knee joint when lifting leg to turn over whilst sleeping, fluid just above knee, knee, calf and ankle also yesterday it felt like something grated on the inside of my knee when I piveted. The injury happened a year ago this month in a block tackle playing football.

My guess is ACL or Miniscus tear..but dr will let you know more..

If you have a tear in cartilage they will probably repair it.   Small op and quick recovery
