Hi chaps, I hope this isn't too long and boring, over the last year I have feinted 3 times, all whilst asleep, the only other link was that a fair amount of beer had been consumed so that I guess I was in a deep sleep (encouraged by the alcohol) and probably got out of bed and stood up to go to the loo (also encouraged by the alcohol) ... on each occasion the next thing I new I was waking up on the floor with a small graze on my face where I'd obviously hit something on the way down. I've had a few inconclusive tests and one doctor suggested that it wasn't the beer at all ... I disagree. The reason for my post is to establish if anyone else has any experience of this ? (I know the solution, cut down on the booze) I'd just be interested in anyone elses thoughts please ?
No beer for me but I tried to get up and fell back on the bed luckily. I would fall if I decided to go without my Rollator. The beer may have just made it worse but you would have probably fallen anyway. Next time aim for the bed. Get up gradually and then sit on the side of the bed. Then stand beside the bed til you are sure you are steady or use an aid of some kind to be nearby. Are you young or older like me. I am 70.
I don,t know what Orthostatic Hypotension is but it sound more like SleepApnoea to me. My nephew had this years ago and it was worse when He drank. It is literally where you stop breathing whilst asleep. and he was a. It s orers too. You awake suddenly as th body tries to,' kick start' you, but if you have is you need to go back to your GP.
Hi Roger, my only thought is that this could be sleep apnoea (can't spell it). Beer makes you snore, snorers are prone to sleep apnoea etc. I've also been falling about when getting up out of bed at night time but I don't drink any beer and I don't actually feint. Hope you get some answers as it must be worrying. It would be interesting to see if you have any further episodes when beer is not involved.
