Osteolysis - Should you be concerned!

Guys

This information was posted on another forum this morning that I'm a member of and whilst Osteolysis is not a major concern with hips it is something that perhaps we should all be aware of because it could effect your hip prosthesis and you in the future.

Please put the following into Google and enjoy a heavy read!

The effects on bone cells of metal ions released from orthopaedic implants. A review

Cheers, Richard

Thanks Richard, will check it out. Certainly was less stress when we had good original equipment that was pain free and worked.

That report was dated Jan 2013 though, about the time Metal-on-Metal implant problems were revealed?

hopefully the metal used now is better?

Hope you are doing well now Richard.

Graham

Dear Graham

Yes it would have been even more interesting had it been bang up to date however I thought that there was sufficient useful information to make it worth bringing to the attention of members. You may have noticed that there was a mention of metal on metal.

Thanks for asking about me. The hip revision continues to be good and as for the ankle the revision is due to be done on February 26th. Cannot say that the prospect of having the bad prosthesis yanked out and putting in a larger replacement fills me with joy but it cannot just be left so it will be good to get it dealt with!

Cheers Richard
