Hi, Has anyone thought to try Acupuncture, had it on my back some years and never looked back, it's worth a try at least, I shall be trying it out soon so will report on results.
There is one fairly high quality trial of acupunture for CTS which reported benefit and the same group has published a follow-up study claiming that the effect is sustained. This does not seem to have been replicated by other workers though so it is a provisional finding. A few patients attend my clinic having tried it and most report little effect but then if it had worked they would not be coming to me so you can't read much into that. I'm always interested in reports of responses to alternative treatment so it would be good to hear what you think later - whether it works or not. Indeed the important thing is to report the effect either way. Dr J Bland
Hi Freda,
I have bilateral carpal tunnel. I've had surgery on my left hand so far but it feels like it did before the surgery maybe worse! My doctor suggested acupuncture on my right hand. Never had it before but I guess it won't hurt to try it. Just made an appointment a few hours ago for Monday. Fingers crossed, I'm about ready to try anything at this point! Good luck to you
