Today I had my first hospital appointment following my first attack and ultra sound in August.
I have to say that the NHS gets a bad press but I can't fault them today. I was seen within 10 minutes of my appointment time. The Dr/consultant I saw put me at ease from the moment I met him. He allowed me to ask all those questions I had been wanting to ask someone. He explained everything and didn't pull any punches, so to speak.
Having been in pain (like trapped wind or having done 1000 sit ups)since Saturday evening,he said if the pain didn't improve in the next 48 hours then A&E is where I am to go.
I'm to wait for an appointment for an MRI scan or some other scan once my blood test results reach them. Following the scan then he said 6-8 weeks for surgery but I'm not holding my breath!
I just wanted to share my positive experience(so far) of the good old NHS.
I'll keep updated as to how things go but for now the NHS has my vote 😊
It's great that the consultant you met with was nlce and allowed you to ask everything you needed and was attentive. I've got to say though it's surely not good enough that it's taken 2 months to see the consultant, waiting for bloods and then waiting for a scan which could be 6 to 8 weeks then 6 to 8 weeks for your surgery. That could be another 4months in total making it 6 months from your first attack in my view that's bad.
Sorry i've got a massive downer with the NHS and having to put more on a&e when they can't really do much for you is passing the buck and stringing things out. In my eyes if you break your leg do you have to wait 2 months to see a consultant then 2 months for a scan then 6 to 8 weeks for treatment. It's shocking it really is. If you had private you could probably have your scan tomorrow and have your op by the end of the week with the same staff as the NHS.
I hope your pain subsides and wish you all the very, very best.
Please keep us updated
