I was just diagnosed with genital herpes in November since then, I have had outbreaks back to back (they go away and come back a day later. Outbreaks last 6 weeks min)
I have been prescribed Famciclovir during outbreaks. I wanted to start suppressive therapy because it has been so uncomfortable. So I take acyclovir 200 mg twice per day however I have been getting weekly migraines and stopped taking it. Does anyone have any suggestions for what to do to lessen outbreaks or alternative medicines?!
Has this happened to anyone else before?! I have a consistent partner now and am very paranoid about transmitting it.
I am loosing hope and becoming depressed because I cannot live a normal life.
Please help!!!
Thank you
I take it you got diagnosed by swab. it may be so severe because you may have no antibodies to either type yet. meaning this is your primary infection. you mentioned genital herpes so the swab was typed and it’s hsv2. if hsv1 genital it’ll calm down and be unoticable in no time. Even if it’s hsv2 it should call down. the first outbreak they say is the worst. I read about someone not taking antivirals and aloud the body to build the antibodies and do it’s thing. 2nd time around it was very mild for her. I’m sorry you’re going thru this but in time you’ll be ok.
some will say its best to give your body 6 months prior to starting antivirals! a specialist told me that usually there will be more outbreaks initally as your body nearly triggers it to produce more antibodies! dunno how true it is though!
is there anything that may be triggering your outbreaks?
diet?stress? trauma to the skin like shaving!
you can usually dry up sores with some tea tree oil applications! feel free to message me for some tip
are you sure its herpes ? did you get a swab test done to get diagnosed? i never heard of it lasting this long
