Ovarian Cyst Experience? - Please help

I had an ultrasound last October and was told I had a large (10cm) cyst on my left ovary.

They said they would check it again at a different point in my cycle.

I had another ultrasound in November and again in Debember - both times I had transvaginal ultrasounds. The cyst was now bigger (12cms) and they said it was a hemmoragic cyst and I would need referring to a gynaecologist.

I saw the gynaecologist last week. He examined me, took 3 swabs and blood test. He also said he could feel the cyst on internal examination without trying to feel it.

He said because the size is not reducing and it was a "complex hemorrhagic cyst" it would need removing but he would order a MRI so they can get a better look at it and I would then need to see him again in 4 weeks when he would have the swab and MRI results.

I've had a MRI appointment letter a few days ago and today I have received a CT scan letter. I phoned the hospital assuming it's a mistake as he didn't say anything about a CT and I was told it's not a mistake and they are just "being thorough"

I've had 3 ultrasounds, swabs, blood tests, internals and now I've got to have an MRI and a CT scan on it.

Why all the tests? Surely that's overkill unless they are concerned about something I don't know about?

I'm freaking out a little bit and so I'm hoping someone can give me their experience or offer an opinion as to why they are doing all the tests if cysts really are that common?

Hi, try not to worry, they're just being thorough.

I had a blood test that showed I was anaemic, ended up with a colonoscopy, a CT on my liver, an MRI on kidneys, and an ultrasound transvaginaly where they found a cyst.

Had the cyst plus ovary and tube removed last April.

Felt like I had an MOT!

No need to worry. They do all these tests to see if there's cancer or something else. Anyway, you'll need surgery, maybe laparoscopy because your cyst it's very big. I have an ovarian cyst (7,5cm), they gave me treatment, but nothing happened and now i need surgery. Be careful, don't make effort because it can broke. But don't worry about all the tests.

All the tests may sound scary but try not to worry. Its needed.

I went through the same as you (no CT). I had a 7cm mass, was not defined as a cyst at that time. I had a laparotomy in 2015 to remove it. Yes, it was very early stage cancer BUT I am glad the tests were done as the drs made the right decision to operate.

They will make sure they are as thorough as they can be and it seems scary,

I am worried as he said nothing about a MRI. What can a CT show him a MRI can't and why didn't he say anything about a CT at the time?

My worry is it's been a week since I saw him and in my paranoid head he's had the swab and blood results back and has ordered the CT now because of those results
