No you are not alone for sure. So have you seen your doctor to get medication to bring your thyroid levels back to "normal"? That would be the first step. Lots of us feel this way and the best answer is to keep after your doctor, and get referred to an endocrinologist if you are not getting good answers. That way, you will feel you are taking charge of your situation and that really does help your mood a lot. Hang in there and keep posting here for more support. Remember, your doctor is a hopefully trusted advisor  but you are in charge.

Hi Jean, everyone I've spoken to who's undergone radiation for hyper, has become very hypo. You basically trade one illness for another. Apparently this is normal, but you could do a search on outcomes of radiation treatments to verify.

From this perspective, I find it unconscionable that this sort of treatment is used in anything other than as a last resort.

Since you're now dealing with hypothyroid disease, you'll have to approach your illness from this perspective. Holistic treatment for hypothyroid disease involves diet and supplementation, although you most likely will always need thyroid medication. You can reduce the thyroid medication drama by reading through the many posts here. From everything I've read, your best natural choice is ThyroGold or similar nonprescription product made from dessicated bovine thyroid gland, because the thyroxin ratios are closest to humans. My mother has had her thyroid removed and she uses this instead of the prescription levothyroxin.
