Hi there,
I was diagnosed with an Overactive Thyroid ('off the scale' from the blood results they said) and started taking Propranolol & Carbimazole last Friday.
The problem is, I am unsure of the symptoms I have from this (and what I seem to have relat to Hypo not Hyper!) as I have also been diagnosed with Acid Reflux & Iron Overload. I have also had a very stressful 3/4 years with moving jobs 3 times (due to recession), ending my 10 year marriage and subsequently selling our marital home and moving 3 times in 2 years!! On top of this, I have put on 6 stone since 2007 going from a size 10/12 to a size 22/24.
So! As you can imagine, everything I have been feeling I have put down to stress, weight gain, lack of exercise and bad diet.
After yet another weekend under the duvet feeling lousy and miserable I went to the doctors and requested full bloods be taken and tested. And that is what leads me here today.
This is how I have been feeling:
I have had ‘hand tremors’ for many years.
For the last 3 – 5 years I have been emotional, miserable and tired all the time together with a stiff neck.
For the last few months I have often experienced ‘flu’ like symptoms quite often. By this I mean literally aching all over and being able to do nothing except lie in bed and sleep, the last time being from a Friday through to the following Wednesday.
I also have ‘shooting pains’ which run through my arms and legs and are very painful. By this I don’t mean cramp, it actually feels like something is shooting through my veins!
And on top of this, the last few months I have developed an incredible temper and lack of tolerance for others. I am normally a ‘people pleaser’ and a big worrier, but now it takes very little for me to blow my top. Some days I am so angry inside (‘mardy’) that I cry from sheer frustration. Often it is over something that happened a long time ago which I am thinking about.
Please can someone tell me if any of the above is/could be due to my Hyperthyroidism and how long before I will notice improvements? Will I feel energetic again ever? I am so confused!!
Many thanks for reading this, much appreciated and sorry it's so long.
