owwwwwww!!!!!! I had my hydrocele operated on, March 15th 2005. I am the 1 that said I would get back to everybody. WEll let me tell you I am 48 years old and I have never experienced pain like that in my life. Oh don't get me wrong I highly recomend getting the surgery but if you are older don't put it off.It has been a week and the right side of my sac is still very swollen,and very tender. The thing is when I came too I was so sedated I didn't know where I was at but as soon as I could urinate, and that took a while they stood me up and shipped me home.It took a couple of days for me to walk without a cane, but slowley but surely its getting better. I can't wait till it gets better.I highly recomend taking it easy after the surgery it will be difficult to lay on your side, but you;ll get used to it. Also I never paid much attention to sitting down, but after that operation I guarantee you, you;ll know you got balls

I am considering this operation. I have had mine drained twice. The second time only 2 months after the first. My Dr. says that the fluid is returning too quickly. I am 45 years old. I have heard the operation is painless, yet you have experienced a lot of pain. Can you tell me what type of surgery you had for your hydrocele ? Thank-you, Bob

Not sure if I'm the exception to this comment but I just had the surgery and it has been rather easy. I had the surgery in the morning and was home by the afternoon. I had it on the left side and was able to sleep, with an ice pack, through the night. So far things are going well and I seem to be able to do most of my normal things, albeit, rather slowly. I still have a few days to before I have work and I hope that I can do what I need to do, so I will remain guarded on my optimism. Regardless of all the comments, I strongly believe that you should have the surgery since 1 ball larger than the others “tends” to be somewhat uncomfortable. There is no reason to be uncomfortable doing what you do when you can do something about it. To anyone who gets this procedure done I have 3 words for you; “Ice, ice baby” it will be friend and will help the recovery process.

Hi Dave,
I was wrongly diagnosed with a hernia and had an operation for that. Later my Dr. told me I had no hernia but rather a hydrocele. He wants to operate again to fix it. For the hernia operation he cut just below my waist line on the left side as that is the side with the swollen testicle. For the 2nd operation he says he will need to cut thru my scrotum sac to find the problem. Can I ask you where your Dr. cut you for your operation ?
