Has any one had PAE for BPH and success or concern story. How much time it takes for improvement . Any Side action . Whether all Hospitals do this. Any Good Hospitals in Knoxviile , TN do this . Or in Toronto , Canada?
I had it done in 2016. It was quite tolerable. There was a feeling of sitting on a golf ball for 1-1/2 days. I was also constipated for 16 days which is very odd. I would take Miralax if having PAE done. My prostate shrank from 37 to 25. I had some urinary improvement but it tightened up at 9 months. I had some median lobe enlargement and probably the bladder has been compromised. I was able to pass urine standing up which was I happy about though.
My prostate has grown back as of this moment. It seems to work better on larger prostates. The urologist practice thinks it works better on 60 cc prostate and up. You would have to talk to an interventional radiologist for good information.
Compared to the procedures currently out there, PAE is very tolerable. If you are a good candidate, it is definitely worth considering. I would do it again if I am a good candidate.
Had it done 5 years ago. OK for about 3 then grew again. Underwent Aquablation 3 weeks ago to hopefully finally nail the problem. PAE is only a holding exercise in my view, but may depend on the individual.
