Pain 4 weeks after ORIF

I fell while ice skating on January 31st and broke my fibula. Had surgery on Feb 3rd, got the splint off on the 18th, and have been in an aircraft since. Recovery was going really well up until two days ago when my ankle started to hurt again and now it just aches as if it was sprained.

I don't have an appointment with my surgeon until March 31st because he's going away for two weeks, but if the pain persists I'll call the doctor on Monday to get an x-ray.

I'm super worried and I don't know if there's any reason behind this so any clues would be really appreciated... Kinda freaking out haha

Have you been fwb? Did they xray when they removed the cast?  Was the bone healed at that point?  Have you been moving the ankle?  If yes, to all these, it is normal to have pain while you are regaining function.

I agree with Linda. I have been FWB since late January and still have pain when I walk.The pain moves around though; sometimes it is the ankle, sometimes the arch, other times the instep or the toes. My surgery was on Dec 14th for 3 breaks.. Had a plate and screws put in.

Have you tried elevating it and applying ice?
