Hi post op 7 weeks tomorrow, as well as still being very swollen, I get really bad pains in the top op my foot.. Above the toes on the arch. I am not sure if this is from a pain I had before the operation, but worst, or the result of walking normally again after such a long time on my heels. Anyone else get any pains and where ?
I am only 9 days post op. Had scarf Akin with K wire for middle, as it was straightened. I'm getting tingling everywhere particularly ball of foot, but these past few days I'm getting a really sharp pain on top of foot near 2nd 3rd toe. I don't know what is going on behind the bandages, wish I could see. Did you get the sharp pain at this time? Also has anyone been daring enough to tak off the bandag to see the damage? I've a 3 week follow up clinic appointment when all will revealed, but that's not for 12 days!
I had tingling, but this is different this is a muscular pain or all the little bones in my feet, it really hurts to walk, but I have made tried to ignore it, and carried on doing as much as I can...
Hello,
I know all about these weird pains.
I have been non weightberring for almost 10 wks. The longest I have read so far in this forum. It's only because my Dr wants to be extra careful. I'm happy to say I'm getting boot and bandage off tomorrow and finally get to walk.
The first few days are horrendous, then between2-5 wks out of no where I get this other kind of pain. Burning, sharp, fire feeling on th tops and back side of my feet. So bad it would wake me in my sleep from Time to time.I think this is a normal part of healing. Things are adjusting. It could also be that the bandage is too tight. ice and continue to elevate.
Things will only get better.
Wishing you well, jen
Hi,
I am 9 weeks post op now and came out of my shoe last week. i am able to wear my normal shoe (just a soft leather flat) and also drove for the first time last week.
I was fine up until a few days ago and now getting a burning/tingling/throbbing pain on the front of my foot i am still not walking as i should be but think thats because i am reluctant to put too much pressure on my foot.
I am worried thou now because i assumed i could go back to work which i did yesterday just for a few hrs and i have not got appointment to see consultant until 29th april this is when i get x rays done presumably to see if the toe has fused.
I had 2nds toe fused and metatarsal osteototomy. i am begining to wonder if i should have gone back to work i just assumed that when i saw the consultant 3 weeks ago and had the pin removed and wore the boot for further 3 weeks it would be ok.
I have not been advised any physio so do you think i have done the right thing? how long did you wear your boot for?
Hi there Hormones56 yes that sounds like the pain, I can barely walk this evening, I am in soooo much pain.. However it's really hurt to walk all day but I just gritted my teeth and took the Dog for a walk. Like you I would say I am not walking properly, although mime is because of the pain.. My ankles are also hurting due to the change in motion in my foot, heel walking, your feet don't go up and down. My "guess " is the pain could be due to the lack of motion, and the fact we hardly moved our feet in the past few weeks. The more I do the easier it will get I hope, but in your case I would not do too much until you have checked that toe has fused, only do what your consultant has told you to do...
I really hope hope this pain goes soon though, I was nearly in tears today and tonight I feel like I have done a 20 mile sponcered walk.
I wore my boot for six and a half weeks, x
Hi Jen. 10 weeks? My you poor thing, six weeks has seemed an age to me, the thought of having to have it again is filling me with dread.. When you say the first few days are the worse do you mean after the operation or once losing the shoe? Mine started like this since losing the shoe, I also got a burning pain as my foot began to heal, but this pain is different.
Hope we your foot starts to feel better soon, x
Hi I'm 12 weeks post I had 7 weeks complete rest of none weight baring I'm going back to work tomorrow on phase return still got lots of pain mega swelling numb toe and it won't flex consultant tells me all will settle when swelling subsides back to see him at 6 months if no better top of my foot and ankle hurts too I was convinced at first that my foot was broken on top from surgery but sure it's from not walking properly as I still got a limp too what a state !!
Hi Gill, my foot is still very swollen too, I also have a numb toe but it does bend, the numbness becomes more noticeable in the evening, along with a very strange feeling in between the first and second toe, hard to describe really. Yes, it does feel like all the small bones in my foot are broken, clearly not though.. My ankle hurts too, I have had pains like this before, before the operation, I was hoping they would get better not worse lol..
Hi I am very similar at 13 weeks and now physio needed as I am very stiff and the metatarsals are still afet compensating for very stiff big toe. Lots of massage needed and advised against doing toe raises until the stiffness in my foot eases. I am getting lots of pain at base of ties after walking and as now in sunny Portugal I have really struggled as trainers are still my best option! Flip flops did not work out at all......
I'm in uk Iv not been offered any physio don't think they give it on NHS returned to work today on phase return I had had enough after 3 hours foot was really painful and sore I was glad to get home !!
I am in uk too and was not offered physio initially but prolonged stiffness at 12 weeks and suspected crps means I now need it. Managed to get 5 sessions on husbands health cover then hoping nhs will cover any more I need.
Glad you have a phased return. My work were very good once they saw me hobbling around!
