pain after 2 weeks, getting worse.

I had my bunion op 2 weeks ago, since last week the pain is getting worse, it feels like something is out of place. My foot feels as though it is either red hot or freezing and for the last 2 nights have not slept well at all , despite having codeine. Has anyone else had this, I go back on friday for my stitches out I just feel something is \"not right\".

Hi Lillyprospect,

Sorry you are having so much trouble 2 weeks post. I am about 4 weeks post op of an austin bunionectomy. For the first 3-5 days, I had pain very similar to what you described. It was unbearable and I was taking 6 vicadin PLUS 6 motrin to help. However, since day 5 or so, every day got a little easier for me. I only needed a couple motrin here and there. I have found that rest, elevation, and ice should be your best friends post op for at least 2 weeks. Have you been up on your foot a lot? If you have been, that could definitely be your issue (not that I'm a doctor) b/c you have to give the bone time to heal. Do you sleep with your foot elevated? That helps a lot. Nonetheless, definitely talk to your doc about it. Everyone heals differently, but my experience is that every day is a better day (unless I walk around a little too much). I hope everything works out for you!

Hi, Princess 3, yes, I think you are right and maybe I have been trying to do too much too quickly. I went back to hospital today as I thought! I was having my stitches out, and was quite surprisd that they are dissolving ones. I have to say they are extremely neat, as after looking at some pictures on here I was expecting a lot worse. they are very neat, 19 at the side and 9 on top. Now that it has been rebandaged it does not seem as bad. I didnt have it potted originally only bandaged and the boot. Thankyou for taking the time to write back to me with your advice and help.

Hi

I had surgery 6 days ago and never realised it was going to be this

painful. What you have described is the same for me. it as a nigtmare at the hospital. I had to go to the toilet in the night hobbling on my crutches, as they wouldnt bring me a cammode. The pain was excrutating.. Hope you are feeling bit better.
