My husband had carpal tunnel surgery on his hand on October 22, 2015. Almost immediately he started having pain in his left elbow. He thought it might be because of having to keep the hand elevated, but it has not gone away. He had the stitches removed November 2. Now the pain in the elbow is excruciating and his hand is swollen. He is not able to elevate the hand because of the pain in the elbow. Is this normal?
Hi I don't think this is normal..I would advise him seeing his dr
I'm sorry to hear about your husband. I had my surgery Monday and I'm back to work tomorrow. I'm a hairstylist... Today I came into work practiced on a mannequin. So far so good
It is definitely NOT normal. Please call your doctor.
Definitely not 'normal' but it's not possible to make much of a guess as to what the problem is from that description. Ideally he needs to see the surgeon who did the operation - what arrangements have been made for stitch removal/follow-up?
Dr J Bland
We've been trying for the past three days to get an appt with his doctor, they keep saying they'll have ortho call back. He's frustrated because they don't then when he calls back they have to take all the info again and say someone will call... Ugh..Was prepared to take him to ER this morning but he said the pain wasn't as bad. Now I guess the pain is back, so will take him to the ER. Thank you everyone for your answers.
Hi Joyce. Hope things have improved for your hubbie. How is he doing since his visit to the ER? Did they have an explanation for the problem? I have sent you a pm.
