Hi I had my gallbladder removed 4 years ago and things seemed ok until last week when I started getting the same sort of pain I used to get before I had the GB removed. I am very over weight and am doing my best at Weight Watchers to lose the weight. I have also been diagnosed with Coeliac Disease so am on a Gluten free diet. I am due to see my consultant in a few weeks but wondered if anyone here could advise me of things I should and shouldn't eat to help with the pain. My friend thinks it might be stones in the bile duct.........I am really frightened it might be something really bad. Thanks for reading xx
My GB was removed March 2012 and I experienced Pancreatits pain this week which terrified me to. The doctor also mentioned to me that stray tiny stones could be trapped in my bile duct causing pain. He sent me for blood tests and has referred me for an ultra scan. I asked him if I should avoid any particular food and he looked at me like I had just landed! He said if had the answers to that he wouldn't be sending me for tests........ask for scans and bloods and be insistent.
I had my GB removed 15 years ago and have had no problems since. I remember very clearly the pain when I had eaten the 'wrong' things, anything, even a little bit fatty, avoid butter or any substitutes. Roast lamb,
which I thought would be okay, felt like it almost killed me. Get the bloody thing out or if you have already had it out get it checked ASAP. Hope this helps someone, kindest regards to all.
Thank you both for your reply. I am seeing my consultant next week and will talk to him about it. Will post what he says. Thanks again x
Good luck Jules. Hope you get some satisfactory answers
I agree with your friend, before i had my gallbladder removed, I was admitted to the hospital because I had a stone stuck in the bile duct, lucky it moved on its own. The surgeon said during surgery they would use a camera to see if i had any more left however the camera ended up being to big for the duct so i had to go for an MRI after.
Hope all goes well
Thanks again and will let you know what the consultant says next week. x
