I had a lthr in Nov 2012 which went well after about 1year advised by the hospital I needed my right hip doing but they cancelled last minute but I suffer with really bad back pain now and walk with crutches does anyone have any ideas as the hospital are taking their time in trying to sort this out
Sue, Between having my first hip and second hip replaced I had bad problems with my shoulders. I don't have any problem with them now. The only way to find out what the hospital is doing is to ask to see the consultant and ask them.If you go away and suffer in silence they won't know how you are feeling. Make a fuss.As they say on the advert, " you're worth it".
Hi juliette thank you my consultant knows I'm in pain and said he is going back to the x Ray doctors but this has been since March 2014 I know a couple of vertabrays are worn but it's just getting me down now but my left hip is bril l will contact my own doctors to try and get things moving
Chances are the back pain is due to your modified posture as you are having to walk with crutches due to pain. I don't know what to tell you apart from the usual strengthening exercises to ensure your core muscles are strong to support your back, pain killers and probably the best, hydrotherapy to get you through this tough time while you wait. Speak to you GP about pain control. Is it possible you've injured your back?
I too have developed debilitating lower back pain on the other side.
Surgeon will look at pelvic xrays while ignoring your spine. I told surgeon I had slight scoliosis and was surprised at his staring at the screen at my follow up.
Now after he re aligned according to a software programme I realise that is only one level and he did not take one glance at my spine my general posture (one sided) nor my shoulders. They need to do a chiropracty course. We are not motor vehicles nor are we symmetrical. Oh why no women orthopaedic surgeons to bring some common sense to these gung ho vroom vroom boys toys doing model airplane surgery. I told him over and over to check my spine. Not one single glance.
So anyone with lower back.pain after thr does not surprise me one iota. I feel like a cripple as my lower.back now completely out of synch. Hindsight is 50/50. Mea culpa.
I think in the US not all Dr.but some its like a assembly line and they don't check the patients to see what they did to helped.Like my cass I don't think anyone even though about the length of my legs and now its pretty will ruined my life of all the things I used to do.Bummer
I had to laugh at what you wrote. It's funny because it's true. The mechanist reductionist approach of western medicine is so limiting. But unless one has pots of money there is no alternative. I do know that gentle yoga stretches, exercises and postures are excellent at bringing conscious use to the body. It has to be a teacher who is experienced with older and/or disabled students. Although the human body is a series of pulleys and levers and is designed to hold us up, there is also a person with feelings and emotions somewhere in the mix. I agree with you that we need some different energies and approaches.. Not sure having women in the job would help. They wouldn't get far in the system if they didn't conform to the fixing model aeroplanes model of orthopaedics. I am very interested in the reasons why some people develop hip problems. I don't buy the wear and tear story. I started with pain and stiffness in my early forties. I was also heavily burdened with the sole responsibility of four young children in my thirties because my relatively young husband had a major stroke. He was left like a child really and I soldiered on without help from anywhere. Something had to give and it was the major support structure of my body-the hips.
Sue..can u check back with the dr to sort things out and obtain a prescription for pain control while u wait.
Hi thank you I have done that but the tablets do not suit me so going back again next week it's just so annoying that for 6 months I was fine then gradually it has got worse but also I have trouble with my right arm now can't lift anything and had steroid injection but that seems to of made it worse but keep soldiering on thank you again
Continue thru the search .. Pain injections are a short term fix. I my experience they never last long... They are not approved in the US for all joints or the hip.. Check in UR area. That's just covering up the problem..
there is deffinately some nerve damage going on... Ask for a nuclear cat scan or MRI . This will show soft tissue and bone damage. As foe now it may be irrating but pain meds are necessary for UR own peace of mind to cope daily and the strength to push for a real diagnosis not a simple short time cover up... PT can also help.. But honestly until there is a diagnosis then a prognosis can be prescribed....
stay strong... Warm healing hugs sent UR way!
