Pain after PKR

It's been 3 weeks since my partial, pain on medial side is horrible & take Vicodin round the clock, I can't even lift my leg without bad pain. I do good getting to the bathroom and back. Is this pain typical & shouldn't my endurance be longer? Thanks for your help.

Three weeks is still horrible. . I started to feel human again at about five weeks!   Hope it soon improves for you . .

I haven't the partial experience but tomorrow will be the 4th opening of the knee(staph), plus 7 other operations. I can tell you 3 weeks is awfully early for judging the healing process. You probably haven't had the stitches out a week. There is so much healing that has to take place deep down before you can start to feel like you've made step one in the process

Stay on course with the excercise, remember to rest frequently. A worn out body heals slowly. Stay aggressive but don't push yourself beypund the point of pain regardless of the well meaning advice of some therapists. Wait 6 weeks and see where the journey has taken you

Stay with the good people on here. They have been through it and won't lead you astray. Good luck

Hi mry. I had TKR Thursday 26 th. Is the pain you are describing when the foot is not supported? I think this is the worse pain so far. I was given a strap the helps me to move it myself. It stops that painBut you have to be careful that you do not forget to use the muscles. I am having problems with my excercises will chat to surgery tomorrow for advicex

Thanks, I guess it is still early. I read that a PKR was easier to recover from. I'm keeping it iced & do the exercises. Just was hoping it would feel better sooner.

I had PKR 6 weeks ago today and I can tell you at 3 weeks I was still doing hardly anything except taking painkillers and sleeping! I had all sorts of pain on side of replacement and lifting leg on and off of anything was just excruciating....but I can say you do turn a corner about now...but still don't expect a lot...I have just had to take tramadol and a nerve tablet because my leg and foot feel crampy and I am back to the rubbish restless leg syndrome....just don't worry go at your own pace it will all come together...Sarah

I'm out 8 wks from TKR. I still have some pain when I stand up, but nothing compared to the sciatia pain I have had since a week after surgery.  And also the nausea I have.

if I would do the surgery again I don't know.  The pain from the knee if that is all I am dealing with I might consider doing TKR to my other knee, but when you don't know what else can happen I don't think I would chance it.  That is how bad the sciatica pain is.  I was on oxycodone for a while but got off that as soon as I could. It is too addicting.
