Pain and other directly after tvt

I am scheduled for tvt in about a week, I was wondering about the pain and other issues directly after surgery?

I am only taking one week off work and my day consists of a lot of walking.

Are you a member of the ‘Sling the mesh’ group on Facebook? You may find that useful.

Hi there, before you proceed with the TVT op PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE checkout the ‘Sling the mesh’ group on Facebook. There are some real horror stories on there regarding the mash/tape they use, it has been banned in some countries and some ops, but not I. Others and i

so is still causing major problems and unbearable pain for a lot of people. I really don’t mean to scare you, but I urge you to research it thoroughly before going ahead. I would hate for anyone to go through anything like the people on the sling the mesh group. I very nearly had TVT but after much research there is no way I would even slightly consider it. Good luck x

I am 40 and had the surgery on 12-18-17.

I was in pain the first week and laid in bed. I went to a Xmas eve gathering and sat the entire time

Now I am one week out I do not have to take any pain medicine, but I still walk slowly and have soreness. Lots of the soreness is in the abdomen/ vaginal area of top versus down below. I would not recommend going back after 1 week.

Thanks that is exactly what I was wondering. I don’t think I have the option to take more time off without getting paid.

I had this procedure 2 years ago and have been delighted with the outcome. However you will need more time off than one week. As Monie has said, there is quite a lot of discomfort and you have to give it time to heal for the best outcome.   I certainly wouldnt recommend a lot of walking, and you may find sitting a bit uncomfortable as well. No intercourse for 8 weeks at least as the tape has to embed in the vaginal tissue.

Hi Marina

I am now 3 weeks out from sling surgery and have soreness in the abdomen and incision area. How long did it take for your pain to go away? I am hoping it’s nothing permanent, but when I read reviews I get scared.
